Oreo living his best life….

A Florida weatherman telling his viewers he can no longer be confident in his forecasts due to cuts to atmospheric science is the kind of resistance content I’m here for. Kudos, Sir.🌦️

Bedtime snack time!!!! All treats are low fat, beloved by them and they have to work at it to get them. Part of our bedtime routine.

I want a four-hour 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea film adaptation by a director whose primary interest is the oceanography and marine biology chapters.

While global mean sea level rise over recent decades has been driven mainly by greenhouse gases, the regional pattern in the Pacific has likely resulted from sulfate aerosol emissions - with important implications for the coming decades... www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

I love westerly and the house we are in, but this is too regular a happening at our intersection. This time a pair or late high school teens. Both cars totaled but no obvious serious injuries (last time was serious injury)

whenever i encounter people who say they can't understand shakespeare verses I always send them this clip from the 2019 Shakespeare in the Park production of Much Ado About Nothing

Wonderful words from @pgirguis.bsky.social - if you wear a seat belt, you’ve benefitted from federally-funded research.

Luna loves the bird feeders being right at edge of catio. The birds interestingly enough don’t seem to mind the location either.

While it may seem a touch odd, tomato basil challah was excellent side to Fredericksburg Chili - just a bare hint of sweet with tomato/basil so helped offset the amazing chili spiciness

Mmmmmmmmmmmm… nnnammmm sooo gooood!!!! Upper rock in over clearly a bit hotter… (bottom loaf) but damn that’s sinfully good!

Tomato basil challa? Sure why not!!! Just got new cookbook (recommended by @drandrewthaler.bsky.social ) said - “gonna open to random page and (if I have ingredients) make that!” Opened to tomato basil challah (pg 59)

Mac LOVES bunnies. there is an eastern cottontail at the far right side of the image, (about halfway between top and bottom) he just stared at it and hopped up and down for 5 minutes.

“Without widespread theft, my industry can’t survive” is an argument against your industry surviving, and is not an argument for allowing widespread theft

Brenna just got back from 2 weeks in Europe late Thursday night… the animals have been keeping her in their sight since.

Jasper has no clue whatsoever about “personal space”

Believe it or not, all three of these fish are the same species… the bluehead wrasse. Wrasses are protogynous hermaphrodites, meaning they transition from female to male over the course of their lives. Each phase can look radically different from each other as evidenced here #coralcitycamera

It got a little chilly last night - lows were around 40F. Oreo has the right idea.

2 totally different approaches to same problem. I give pups treats in puzzle toys - mixed in with themed small stuffed animals are beggin strips, milk bones, and pigs ears. One dog pulls out each toy and then eats any snacks freed up. The other jams their snout in and snuffles around for the goodies

The GOP/MAGA faction is evil. Don’t give up friends. A better society is possible.

MUST WATCH: They didn’t just burn Tulsa — they burned proof. Black wealth. Black futures. Gone. And now they’re banning books so you never learn it happened. 📚 ERASED tells the truth they’re scared of. Read it before they erase that too: stan.store/gxldsociety/...

Frost: Tonight the people stealing are not folks with tattoos and hoodies but people wearing suits and ties and congressional pins sitting in the capitol now, not in some alley wrapped in darkness but the United States congress wrapped in the flag. It is disgusting and we will never forget this.

Excellent, concise article by @joanwestenberg.com about the importance of friction and learning. Should appeal to all of the creative people I know resisting the tide of gen AI.

Oreo and Mac this morning

Fuhhh… Perry is a wonderful guy and big supporter of NSA. This is going to be a hard hit to him and especially his summer restaurant staff. A favorite place for us to have nice sit down seafood out. patch.com/rhode-island...

Oreo catching a some zzz’s in the sun.

I love Avery Point campus of UConn, a lot of history and - for me - good times. Just before and during WWII it was a coast guard training station. On the western side of the point along the Thames River mouth is a a small burial site for Duffy "BM 1/c USCG" the stray bulldog adopted as mascot.

Luna in her favorite spot to while away a lazy afternoon.

Whole reason I was on campus today was to take the dogs … it’s easily one of Grace’s favorite places (she grew up going there at least weekly) and to get Mac down there again (it’s been 9months for him) Grace is the smaller border collie and Mac is the taller black lab.

Well someone wasn’t thinking… A “fun” afternoon flying giant kites near major power lines feeding a research university campus is BOUND to end well… not! Looks like the kites got tangled in air the pulled out of flyers hands. One caught on power line. I seriously hope they get fined!

Oreo perched on the stump in the cat yard. Letting him get well above the violet leaves to survey “his” domain. Luna is in the background about to jump up onto the stairs landing of the structure.

All 3 cats enjoying the catio this nice evening. (L-R) Oreo (the harlequin) on the ground among the violets, Jasper and Luna on “the structure” watching the dogs as I toss half deflated volleyballs for them.

Here are some better pictures of the Eretmocrinus from the Mississippian Edwardsville Fm. near Crawfordsville, IN. Note the broad paddle-like end of the arms. Crawfordsville crinoids are known for exceptional 3D preservation, density and diversity. #FossilFriday

I don’t want to read about a former President’s mental decline because a journalist got a book deal. I want to read a report about the current President’s mental decline by a journalist brave enough to speak out now.
