28 Weeks Later I hadn’t seen before. It was kind of a narrative mess. An obviously American production on British soil, they brought in Jeremy Renner to protect some kids we just met. The rest of the budget went to Idris Elba brooding in fatigues and a bunch of CGI explosions. Daddy issues abound.

Just rewatched 28 Days Later. Most of the novel ideas from this movie seem derivative now. I remember seeing this in the theater in 2002 and everyone I knew saw the anti-military commentary as a response to the Iraq War. It probably wasn’t. Cillian Murphy looks like a baby in this.

With the polls now closed and 46% of precincts reporting, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social holds a strong lead in the New York mayoral primary. I predict he’ll be the winner given that ranked choice strongly favors Lander voters choosing Mamdani second. Cuomo can finally be returned to the trash heap.

This is the relevant section of the 1973 War Powers Act. It states clearly that a President can only use the Armed Forces to engage in hostilities with another country when there is a Congressional declaration of war, specific authorization, or in response to an attack. There is no ambiguity here.

Obama carried out more than 500 drone strikes, including one targeting a U.S. citizen. The power to unilaterally bomb a country is horrific and should apply to ALL Presidents.
