I mean I certainly have no intention of talking the way they do about women or lgbtq folks, but i also don't think it's something democrats can just ignore like it isn't a problem
comment in response to post
I literally work with them every single day

I think the crucial difference is that's a fairly online way for cons to talk to each other that doesn't really come into contact with the mainstream con, whereas the language Dave is describing isn't contained to Twitter or message boards.

A lot of why people don't "understand" is because all the evidence points to an electorate that voted for a bigoted sex offender, not in spite of those things, but indifferently or because of those things, and liberals don't want to admit that about the electorate.

I think it's less a question of how bad he'll be (he'll be bad) but more a question of how reversible the damage will be when/if his party is out of power

People just need to be better? Like what would it matter if democrats win a Trifecta in 2028, country cannot be sustained with half the electorate wanting a return to America pre ww1

It's gonna be fun watching the mental gymnastics it will take to blame further price increases on democrats

explaining to my grandkids how we collectively bullied a rich guy for using two shields in a video game once and that's why NASA doesn't exist anymore

At least he wasn't lying about that Elden Ring build....

I hope they all have a nice Thanksgiving

It's a fun action game, not much in terms of an upgrade. Feels like they were aiming for that ME2 sweet spot and just completely missed the RPG side of it

If it happened today people would definitely be conspiracy posting about the timing of Spanish Flu right after WW1
comment in response to post
Is that actually a problem for a guy who doesn't actually care about any policies or how the country is doing?
comment in response to post
I agree, but it's pretty hard to fight when one side is led by a man with cult like devotion from his followers and there's no remote equivalent to that on our side
comment in response to post
They've definitely gotten more brazen since the election for sure

Genuinely asking, what's something you think we could better understand about Trump voters that would help democrats reach out without significantly compromising our values?
comment in response to post
They know what they're *supposed* to say to lib coded folks to appear reasonable. Being a blue collar white guy they'll gladly talk about how they support Trump because they hate their ex wife
comment in response to post
And it's frustrating reading op-eds from people who clearly actually are completely out of touch with these cultures insisting that we'll fix it by just understanding them more.
comment in response to post
What if you do understand them and a lot of them are just bad and like being bad and will just continue to be bad regardless of whatever you want to offer them economically?

I don't even think this is an echo chamber. Or if it is the echos are all fighting. I see a dozen posts a day of someone screenshotting an account saying "ugh THESE people are coming here" and you check out the account and they both share like 95% of the same positions.

Blending in with the conservatives I'm surrounded by has been truly eye opening with how shamelessly they will sexualize young teenage girls in day to day conversation
comment in response to post
I'd like to know what conversations were had with her fellow dems about this. If she's finding out she has no support from her colleagues I wouldn't blame her for not making a fight outta this

I like how Robby acts like the full quote is actually better somehow than the headline suggests

I think being tired sometimes is ok. I'm currently coping with just how many people in my life support this regime... and it's a lot. But yes, we all need to get our heads in the game at some point
comment in response to post
I run it in Urtet and it's pretty solid
comment in response to post
I think a lot of people are tired

Good news is we're only a few months away from people having a new found understanding of how inflation actually works.

The electorate has spoken and decided that our government is to be run by unspeakable people who do unspeakable things. Not your fault for just doing your job.

People still don't understand Trump voters on this stuff. They say they don't believe allegations like that because they have to say that. The truth is they just don't care. Being a rapist just isn't a deal breaker for these people.
comment in response to post
If the job (as Trump sees it) is to destroy said departments they all seem highly qualified

Lord grant me an ounce of the confidence possessed by older uncharismatic men being thoroughly and unambisuously rejected by women
comment in response to post
Lesson for Dems going forward: let anything happen to the economy at all, high unemployment, wage stagnation, anything, besides prices going up.
comment in response to post
Look i get were about to have a rapist as AG, but have you considered civility and norms?
comment in response to post
Once you start talking to former Bernie guys turned Trump guys a lot of pieces start falling into place

I worry we're going to get to a point where it's no longer life ruining. Some prominent person gets outed as an avowed Nazi, people shrug and just accept that is a belief that now exists within the Overton window.

Have you considered watching a YouTuber bang out one of the most impressive drawings you've ever seen in like 10 minutes while explaining that really it's just a bunch of shapes?
comment in response to post
A lot of Trump voters already said they associated Kamala with being too focused on trans issues despite her barely mentioning them, so even from a purely cynical pragmatic approach there doesn't seem to be anything gained by running away from it for dems
comment in response to post
Lord how i have tried. When you have a coworker with a trans daughter showing up with a MAGA hat on the day after the election it's hard to see anything I could point out to someone like that that would convince them
comment in response to post
Weird how just agreeing with voters who said the economy was bad didn't get them to vote for us
comment in response to post
It is depressing working a blue collar job in the Midwest just how reactionary my coworkers are. Even queer and poc ones. I want to believe they are reachable I just don't know how.
comment in response to post
What is the answer to this. If Trump were president he would be touting this as the greatest economy ever and his voters would believe him. it's naive to think otherwise
comment in response to post
I don't think they can. The Republican party does avoid accountability generally, but I think Trumps shield is fairly broad and it'll go away when he does
comment in response to post
I've known quite a few people that never followed politics and never voted until he started running. People tend to forget he's a celebrity from TV and that is still doing some heavy lifting
comment in response to post
Right now that is the only light at the end of the tunnel. Trump seems to be the only person to be so bulletproof, and one day he will be gone
comment in response to post
I'm just taking consolation in the fact that he won't be around forever and I don't think anyone else in the GOP quite has the sauce to constantly avoid the obvious and direct consequences of their actions
comment in response to post
It'll get there. Have a feeling Elon is only going to get worse
