People outside the games industry don't grasp that this is absolutely unheard of. Workers don't get royalties, and we definitely don't get performance bonuses. When we make a hit game we sometimes just get laid off

What a wealth of resources, let's keep track of this to read about regime change interventions, nuclear latency, conflicts involving authoritarian states, etc. 👇

Hospitals are indeed sacred and ought to be protected, though a bit rich to hear whining on this front from Russians and Israelis.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

also, fwiw—yes, international law is both squishy & under attack, but the prohibition against aggressive force remains pretty popular w/most other countries, which still-substantial support for Ukraine worldwide helps show us. violating this principle of international law comes with a political cost

By @profsaunders.bsky.social: Trump's foreign policy is that of a personalist dictatorship - this did not arise from a coup, but from the institutions' own inabilities. "Trump governs today in the wake of the near-complete dismantling of checks and balances on the executive branch"

With Trump, any (all?) of these are likely: 1) "I approved strikes on Iran's military. SURRENDER NOW!" 2) "We bombed Iran's largest nuclear facility. They will NEVER go NUCLEAR!" 3) "Just had a GREAT CALL with Khamenei. Tough guy. We reached a deal. IRAN WILL BE VERY WEALTHY!"

Israeli tourists could lose visa-free travel to the EU under new rules agreed by member states and the European Parliament, my colleague Vincenzo Genovese reports. The rules foresee suspensions over a country’s severe breaches of international human rights or humanitarian law.

Portuguese public television: 'Trump considers assisting with the bombing of Frodo, Iran'

Lest we forget how regime change went in two of Iran's neighbours - and we're fully aware that Saddam's Iraq invaded Iran, annexed Kuwait and commited countless atrocities against Iraqi people, while the taliban implemented one of the world's most brutal regimes & sheltered al-Qaeda.

"Em Portugal é inédito a apreensão desta quantidade e tipo de material, altamente perigoso, nomeadamente as armas em 3D, que a PJ não tem conhecimento de alguma vez ter sido feito antes" www.publico.pt/2025/06/17/s...

Here in English, that horrendous story from a while back: The Kiss: The group led by a Portuguese teen that instigated school massacres in Brazil

I understand these messages go against the values espoused by the host country and could invite harassment from the authorities.

The EU has activated its civil protection mechanism to facilitate evacuations in the Middle East, says High Representative Kaja Kallas. "We are assisting member states to evacuate their citizens that wish to leave," she said.

The Khamenei regime for decades pursued aggressive operations that left deep grudges among European and Arab states that now won't lift a finger to stop Israel while failing to build effective alliances that would lead Russia, China or anyone else to lift a finger to help Iran

This is giving me vibes from @armscontrolwonk.bsky.social's 2020 Commission Report, when Trump tweets something like "Little Rocketman won't bother us for much longer!", which is fatally misinterpreted by North Korea as Trump announcing a regime change operation.

This is typically monstrous from Trump, but not dispositive that the US is about to get involved (though it could be). The bit on evacuating Tehran could be designed to amplify Israel's existing messaging.

Totally delusional. Let’s say IRGC takes over. The very people who ran the nuclear programme for 40 years aren’t going to end it. “Netanyahu told ABC News on Monday that targeting…Khamenei would end, not escalate, the ongoing fight” abcnews.go.com/amp/Politics...

It’s a bit mad watching all these US air force refuelling planes land in Germany, Italy, Spain etc when it’s really unclear to me how a big prolonged war with Iran benefits anyone in Europe. Meanwhile the US shows no interest in defending Europe anymore. Like what is the point of a US lead NATO.

The EU Commission chief has backed Israel's attack on Iran before EU foreign ministers had a chance for their first crisis talks.

IAEA's Rafael Grossi "said the main concern inside Natanz is the chemical toxicity of uranium hexafluoride. It’s extremely volatile, will quickly corrode, can burn the skin and is especially deadly if inhaled" By @stephliechtenstein.bsky.social apnews.com/article/iran...

🧵The stated goal of Israel’s military campaign is to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. With operations ongoing, it's too early to reach a conclusion. But I can highlight outstanding questions that will determine whether Israel will achieve its nuclear goal. (1/n)

Today marks nine years since Jo Cox was assassinated by a far-right extremist, a terrible loss to those who knew and loved her and to politics. Zero lessons were learned though and the far-right continues to be pandered to. With more political assassinations in the US it all feels too familiar.

This is the tragedy of Finnish Cold War military and intelligence history: much of it will likely never be known to the wider public as the success of the ”Finlandisation” strategy depended on it being so convincing that the Soviets believed it to be real.

Don't let anyone tell you that Finland is boring 👇
