Thanks, me too! I’m both relieved and exhausted.

Now I just need the guys outside my window to be done fixing the walkway because this bitch is tired and I can’t sleep with the jackhammers chipping away at the concrete

Update: The emergency vet and Spunky’s regular vet have come up with a plan that should be about $10K cheaper than the emergency vet’s quote for doing it all. They’re running the numbers for me. They also pulled some strings and will have a doctor available tomorrow morning instead of Wednesday.

It’s the U.S. Your life and your pet’s life don’t matter unless you make over $1 million a year.

And now there’s people jackhammering the walkway right outside my bedroom window. Guess it’s no sleep for me today

Basically. The emergency vet is also trying to work with his regular vet to maybe transfer him and hopefully make it cheaper

If anyone who has more money than responsibilities wants to throw money at a single mom trying to figure out how to get her cat sorted, my cashapp is $ficklenuts I’m really, really hoping this won’t be as expensive as quoted. I don’t know yet though.

I’ve only gotten maybe an hour or two of sleep since yesterday. I’m so tired. But every time I start to doze off, I get another phone call from the vet. They might be able to transfer it over to his regular vet instead of the emergency vet, which should be cheaper. Trying to get that sorted

The procedure he needs has a 97% success rate and he’s only a few years old- so if I can afford it, he’d likely make a full recovery.

A lot of people what to feel like they’re doing/believing in the right thing without experiencing discomfort. But you can’t really do the real right, best thing until you go through the discomfort of understanding and changing the ways in which you’re ignorant or complicit. People hate that part

The culture isn’t the gateway- it’s the whole foundation.

And you don’t need to dig much deeper to pinpoint the roots of those issues- it’s the way our system favors profit over people & how religion favors silence and shame because for the sake of mental comfort in their faith instead of communication, truth, and the real world impacts of blind faith.

Instead of cleverly stashed titty mags & scrambled, blurry channels where you’re lucky to make out a nipple, there’s whole stepsisters getting stuck in appliances and lots of misogynistic media. Instead of open, honest conversations about sex, there’s “we don’t talk about that because it’s shameful”

The gateway is that the cost of living is so high that both parents usually need to work long hours outside the home. Instead of committing random acts of trespassing and arson like Gen-X and Xennials, younger generations are online unsupervised where they can look up whatever

The shit has always been there and men perpetuate it and are complicit in it by not shutting it down, not calling other men out, and not shunning the behavior. Social media has just allowed more stupid people to be louder and gain more attention to impress other stupid people & gain traction
comment in response to post
Yeah, that’s what makes it a cultural issue and not a “manosphere” or influencer thing- because it’s fucking EVERYWHERE. Ingrained in and tolerated by our society at large. Within our whole culture. Across different groups. Even among people who don’t listen to that shit
comment in response to post
I’m 43 years old, and have seen men act this way since before social media. So it’s not just influencers, although they’ve certainly made things worse. It’s “complicated” because our culture allows it and enables it, and has done so for a long time.

“I don’t understand why women don’t want to interact with me when I treat them like disposable objects that only exist for me to put my dick into” is a mind-bogglingly common mindset, and the lack of self awareness that goes with it is equally appalling

This one is tinted through the lens of ADHD since it’s common for us, but I thought it was good enough that I’ve saved it to share with others to help them understand my bullshit: www.additudemag.com/rejection-se...
