I make frequent references to that last song and nobody ever knows what I'm talking about.

Correction! It was "Veggies Made Great." I'm not great with wordy, condescending brand names.

Read more news, bigot.

Nice! What brand was the bun? We tried a Food Should Taste Good GF/keto cinnamon muffin this week. Texture slightly greasy and ketobread-stretchy, but it tasted so good I thought it was a win.

It's not terribly unusual to hallucinate a doorbell or banging when you're stirring or between sleep stages. It always jangles me so badly.

How many tuxedo dresses does she – never mind, I'll just watch it.

Last year I spent many many many hours trying to reteach my mom to use a television remote, and I didn't quiiiiiiite put together why it was never going to happen. Seems a bit more obvious with this guy. You know?

That would imply slashdot isn't a forum.

I can't think of anything I'm willing to say out loud about what it takes to send other people up on hot black roofs in July, take a cut of the profit, and not even pay for health insurance

All 2 of the SC songs I've heard: "men are awful miserable clownasses, please let me return my straight card" This lady: "Muh patriarchy"

Dog's been here about six months. She is constantly aware that she's a prey animal until she sees one of the cats ignoring her. Then it's all "arh arh" and stomping. If a cat comes close, she's prey again: Please do not perceive tiny insignificant dog.

I haven't published photos lately, but there are threads in my profile.

That sounds adorable. Weegies are Norwegian Forest Cats, a precursor of Maine Coons. So imagine a Maine Coon, except it doesn't look like Ron Perlman. Big hairy friendly loungesluts with nothing to prove. (And there's a normal-sized bossy shorthair tortoiseshell sister.)

Adding a purse dog to our herd of Weegies has taught us that there's no such thing as a pet bed that's too big or small.

There's just no way one could infer THIS from THAT. Ugh.

And mind you, I think my coworkers are well above average in patience and verbal skills. The people receiving most of my bug reports are....... well above average for people receiving bug reports.

... tbh I spend hours editing bug reports so they're under 5 minutes, and I always declare the length when I post them. I also usually limit paragraphs to two sentences. Hemingway sentences. Standards are low. Call 811 before looking for the standards.

A few days ago I sort of accidentally acquired more burlap coffee sacks than I knew what to do with. And now I know.

IIRC he didn't say that about something I wrote, but it's also relevant that much of the reason I've stayed at my job is that people look up words they don't understand instead of getting mad! Intelligent but academically insecure people have been a real downer in past jobs!

It matters what games you want to try. I'm pleased as punch with my previous-gen Steam Deck, but I also haven't asked it to handle anything heavier than Stardew because I'm used to WASD.

You know what's great? Soup and a little appetizer. Am I sure? Do I not want anything else? Yes, I am sure, please bring me the thing.

I cried today after discovering that my lawn crew had given a big old perennial a buzzcut. The plant will be fine in the long run, but goddammit can I please have one nice thing.

I have never ONCE heard of eight city kids dying because they all piled onto a four wheeler together and ran a stop sign at the intersection of two 55mph roads in the middle of the night.

I used to think one of my biggest errors was not hauling my half-educated ass out to Silly Valley in 1999. And maybe it was. But since about 2015, it's felt like a privilege to observe techbros from afar. Way the hell afar.

This is what my brain has been asking ever since I read NPR's bit on Lavingia. What a dumb little guy. I can't even be particularly happy that he came out of it with an adjusted attitude, because he's only right about dumb little things.
