I gather Jaws of the Lion might do a better job at leading new players through this but it's the only one I've not played!

Frosthaven is probably worse with its more complicated opening. The rules in both tell you all you need to know how to play but, as you say Efka, do a terrible job at telling you what X-haven really is (a fun little efficiency card puzzle with the veneer of dungeon crawling)

X-haven struggles to explain what it is to many board games too, with many players going in expecting a standard dungeon crawling affair. The amount of players I've seen bounce off the first scenario in Gloomhaven because they ran out of cards is huge.

Whenever I see polls like this it reminds me how FPTP can barely handle a 3 party system let alone a 5 party system

My sister emailed Frank asking for a birthday message and he replied with a video in just a few hours. Great guy 2/2

Frank Turner is the best and my dad is a huge fan - he's seen him close to 40 times now. A few years ago I bought tickets to the Lost Weekends festival he did in Berlin for my dad's 60th - however this was in May 2020 so it was cancelled 1/2

Under age 90? That's oddly specific - any idea why it's only under that age?

With news that Apple TV are filming something at the Oasis in Swindon....something set in a futuristic Japan....I thought I'd give Neuromancer another read (which I assume is what they're filming)

Presumably this has to be done whilst in black and white and wearing a trench coat for it to work effectively?

One of my all time favourites. The scene with the collapsing space elevator is just absurdly cool (and terrifying).

I still need to finish it but A Place of Greater Safety (also by Hilary Mantell) is great
