Best one so far today.

I tweeted this eight years ago as many Silicon Valley leaders openly protested Donald Trump's ban of people from Muslim-majority countries. Some of these same leaders celebrated Trump at his recent inauguration.

Well, that's the best feedback I can ask for. If you haven't yet read my latest long-form travel story, it's about Partition trauma, family history and my dad's hidden influence on my writing career. Link here: hiddencompass.net/story/truth-...

I was grateful to write this long-form travel story for Hidden Compass, in which I traced my late father's hidden influence on my writing career. It's an amazing publication. No ads, no clickbait, no sensationalism. Just great storytelling. Please consider donating. hiddencompass.net/story/truth-...

If this person sat next to you on a bus or train and started ranting about Bruce Springsteen in this way, you would get up and move to a different seat. In the United States, we have him the nuclear codes.

We understandably mock this because it seems so pathetic that somebody so powerful could be so small and insecure. But authoritarianism flows from these tendencies. He acts to suppress criticism and dissent because he is incapable of handling it.

I have a new long-form story at Hidden Compass, one of my favorite travel journalism publications. It's about family history, abandonment and loss, but mostly the redemptive power of a writerly life. There's a paywall, but you get one story for free. hiddencompass.net/story/truth-...

For those confused by the China tariff news: • Trump caved and got zero in return • No manufacturing moved back to the USA • 30% tariff is still a huge tax on Americans • 90 day pause still causes uncertainty • Trump lost all negotiating leverage

I feel like we've been saying this forever but it's worth saying again. Book bans do not exist in a vacuum. They're not one off events. Book bans are the canary in the coal mine. They usher in an era of censorship, fascism, violent scapegoating. Authors, join the fight: @authorsabb.bsky.social!!

Judge Hellerstein destroys EVERY PART of Trump's Alien Enemies Act case -Immigrants have NOT invaded the US -They MUST be given meaningful due process -The US ALREADY wrongfully deported migrants, so no more will be sent "where they would endure abuse and inhumane treatment with no recourse"

Morning read. hartmannreport.com/p/a-nation-w...

Stephen Miller is lying through his teeth. The Supreme Court has emphasized for generations that EVERY person gets due process. Here's none other than Antonin Scalia in 1993: "It is well established that the Fifth Amendment entitles aliens to due process of law in deportation proceedings."

"The tariffs on new auto parts are also expected to increase the cost of repairs and insurance premiums, because replacement parts will become more expensive. Rising car prices will contribute to overall inflation, which Mr. Trump had promised to bring down."
