Broken Record: You *cannot sustain* a functioning constitutional order if the general population is blasé about open violation of the Constitution. If voters don't care, your job is to make them care. This is not optional. If you don't, you lose even if you pick up seats in the next election.

This is what collective amnesia looks like.

Also teaches the lab leak theory as straight up fact. But yeah, whine about "ideological diversity" and how there's not enough "conservative representation" in universities. Maybe it's because conservatism is just a stupid ideology and smart people shouldn't have to pretend it's legitimate?

I would really love it if mainstream journalists would seriously consider the possibility that RFK Jr.'s politicized HHS under Trump is as accurate about gender-affirming medicine as it is on autism or vaccination.

firing up the ol' pills to lives converter to figure how many people i've saved? oh wow, it's 1/3rd of the entire population! thanks Pam!

This one of those things where Democrats are not yet nearly radicalized enough, but the reconstruction agenda must include burning immigration law as we've known it to the ground and salting the earth. The status quo ante already treated it as a special Constitution-free zone and that won't do.

Yeah, I think there’s essentially no going back from the damage Trump has done. Even if he were removed tomorrow, America has proven it can be duped into electing a dangerously unstable person, and you can’t really make long term plans centered on an “ally” like that.

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

The bipartisan belief that America would be a better place if *other people* worked in a factory. www.ft.com/content/8459...

Setting aside that this is clearly going to be some crank study that blames vaccines, I just want to say that a.) there is no "autism epidemic," and b.) there's actually nothing wrong with being autistic. Hot take, I know.

The gaping abyss between the reality of this, and how it is going to be covered and remembered (even by negative sources!!) really does make me wonder how much historiography was just straight-up fabricated because the reality was too stupid for anyone to accept.

I can’t believe this is real! It’s like the worst caricature of how the right says Soros does politics.

Professor criticizes various judicial behavior: Gets accused by right-wing judges and commentators of jeopardizing judicial independence and even provoking death threats against specific federal judges. Speaker of the House proposes dismantling federal courts: Crickets.

Order targeting a law firm for retaliation ends with a claim it’s doing so to “end the weaponization of government.” You cannot make this shit up.

I am BEGGING people to frame this properly. The issue here is not one colossal blunder where a reporter got info. The issue is it’s clear these people are all routinely ignoring the most absolutely basic security protocols, and WE HAVE NO IDEA what breaches this has already enabled.

I'm against shipping slave labor to a dictator's concentration camp even if they are gang members. Either convict them of a crime, or else deport them to their own country. Shipping them to a third country where they have no connection and are wanted for no crime is *never* appropriate or lawful.

Maybe a nice cold drink will help

Surely the people who are outraged about tearing down Confederate statues are...hold on, I've been handed a note.

Is there some way to cut $400 million from a university's funding that wouldn't at all affect students? Just terrible, terrible answers. We are in the midst of an full-scale assault on colleges, including non-elite ones. And Schumer is still fixated on demonizing protests that happened months ago.

"dei medal" you might as well just put "n*gger medal" because that's what they mean to say

The median voter believes: 1.) a transsexual on an eight grade girl’s volleyball team is an unacceptable level of risk 2.) giving a madman the US military and world economy is ok cuz “They” will stop him if he goes too far 3.) unelected career bureaucrats have too much power

Democrats in array?

I am filled with contempt for the people who think this is an acceptable way for America to treat an ally. They deserve a ignorant, thuggish government, but regrettably they have inflicted it on all of us.

Property including federal funding, I suppose.

I'm old enough to remember when unilateral presidential alteration of the terms of student loan programs was considered on the right to be the greatest threat to the constitutional order.

The problem with Dems chasing public opinion is that THE PUBLIC'S VIEW OF THINGS IS JUST MOVING IN RESPONSE TO WHAT POLITICAL FIGURES SAY AND IT'S VERY OBVIOUS IN THE DATA MY GOD

the problem with the "trans sports participation is a loser / 80-20 issue" framing is that it ignores how it got that way. it didn't just happen out of nowhere. It's been a 5+ year campaign by Republicans to make it an 80-20 issue, and noone fought back.

The idea the president alone can levy taxes on a whim and spend it as he pleases without any congressional approval is the kind of thing so beyond the pale it's not unconstitutional, it's anti-constitutional. It is overturning in starkest terms the central rallying cry of the American Revolution.

Tell me again how they are just calling balls and strikes

The NBA pulled the 2017 All-Star Game from Charlotte because of North Carolina’s bathroom bill. Michael Jordan spoke out against the bill, as did Charles Barkley. This was less than a decade ago, and, come to think of it, same president in office.

The possibility there might be a trans girl on a high school sports team? Consequential Someone going "I prefer the pronoun 'they'" when called "him" or "her"? Consequential Federal government treating ~2m trans people in the US as less-than, imposing discriminatory policy? Inconsequential Insane

I think about how this was happening and how everyone thinks the "just leave trans people alone" position is considered the extreme one now

The fact that the USA has banned visas for trans people but welcomed rapist Andrew Tate shows how all this "defending women" stuff is total bullshit

Don't let Republicans say this is their red line. This is the only line. If Trump is allowed to disregard Congress' spending directions, then there's NO POINT IN BARGANAING FOR ANY.

Nobody is being fired for being "sexually explicit." They're being fired for being trans, same as the soldiers. Which is a shame, because it's got fuck all to do with who is good at the job. Alan Turing all over again.

What Ilan Wurman and Randy Barnett are doing isn’t best understood as legal scholarship. It’s more like wartime public relations, or like SEO. It’s creating bullshit that will give dishonest judges a pretext to pretend that there is a serious constitutional dispute. They’re fascism’s fixers.

This was just 233 days ago:

Lol

the author of One Billion Americans, who believes that Democrats lost because they did not conduct a brutal immigration crackdown, was consistent and coherent

If you’re going to avoid saying Trump lies because you can’t prove his state of mind, you should also avoid saying he’s just trolling when you can’t prove that state of mind.

If Joe Biden said this, the entire Republican Party would be yelling about Munich/1938/appeasement, & it would prompt nonstop front page headlines about whether he was mentally unfit to be president.

Wait, a company sticking up a big middle finger to a sizable portion of its customers and employees is bad for business? Huh. Next you'll tell me that corporations welcoming a wide swath of customers, and not listening to activists who whine about seeing others welcomed, was a profitable strategy.
