And a short movie of her being beast like with grass. She really likes the outside and bolted out the door just before this.

The burning questions is not what time it is in Cape Breton, but is it still an island since they built the causeway?

As an added bonus to a great day, as I will be on the 10:40 ferry home got invited to dinner at old Ministry of Forests colleague Tom Millard and Shirley. Great dinner and even better conversation!

Reliving some of my teenage years on Hornby. We used to hang out in these trees. Like me they are much older and parts are dead. It was way harder to get up into it than I remember! I got an owie on my hand

The Cretaceous submarine fan sandstones erode into great shapes. Lots of taphony weathering. And cool Arbutus trees.

Agreed. Since 1985 municipalities have responsibility for hazards. The house predated that. But the large shop did not. An engineer sighed a form saying “safe for the use intended”. May have recourse in the courts but expensive. I think I said something along those lines when article first came out

Nice thread Dan. Yes great article by Gordon, he does excellent research. I don't think most people realise how bad it is going to get. I was just at #GIA2025 and nusance flooding in Halifax will be at ~50 days and Boston and amazing 350 a year by 2050 even without any storms! Just tides! Yikes!

You would think they would have learned from the District of North Van after the fatal landslide in 2006.

Totally agree. Bob Gerath talked about home owners getting geotechnical assessments, not liking it and getting another until they found one that let them do what they wanted! And yes, Fraser Valley Regional district were leaders when the Provence downloaded risk in the municipalities act in 1985.
