I was going out for a drink on a Friday lunchtime with some mates. Dived onto an eastbound district line train at St James Park just before the doors closed. Looked up at the bloke opposite me. It was Mark Rylance. We nodded at each other. He got off at Embankment, the next stop.

Sunday afternoons in the 1960s summer were full of highs and lows. Two way Family Favourites then the Clitheroe Kid, redeemed by I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again. 2 hours of something forgettable until Alan Freeman and the Top 40. A massive handbrake turn to Cliff Adams and Sing Something Simple.

The last two panels are chef’s kiss brilliant.

I usually forget that the trains “reverse” out of Bognor and find myself at the wrong end of the train at either Brighton or Victoria, when there is a diversion via Bognor.

Yes a terrific experience. What type of curry do you have? Meat. Any rice? No.

Slightly odd naming a cafe after a type of wall construction!

There was so much music in the 1970s that it was possible to miss some really good stuff. I am glad that I had the chance to catch up on Bob Seger and Little Feat later on.

My wife used to work with a woman whose version was as smooth as ten bears. Not sure that the woman had any Welsh connection or not.

Too right. I lived just round the corner from it in the 1980s.

More likely is that we make a bit fist of the 1962 World Cup in Chile. Possibly winning our group, thus avoiding Brazil until the final. Does Walter Winterbottom stay as manager, with Alf Ramsey turning Ipswich Town into the English powerhouse of the 1960s.

Yes. My mother in law was paid her state pension weekly. She died in July 2022 and was overpaid by one week, even though my wife did the ‘tell us once’ when she registered the death. Later we received a request for repayment, which we did in November 2022.

That game summed up watching Palace at home that season. Mostly played quite well, conceded a worldie and missed a penalty, with one of the three worst penalties by a Palace player at Selhurst in my lifetime.

Exactly. I’ve been able to replicate, if not improve, my experience very quickly over the last month or so.

The last panel is genius.
