I was a Republican and evangelical for most of my life. (except college) I changed my mind in 2008 during the Great Recession and voted for Obama twice and all Democrats since then. I will never go back. Please, no DMs unless I know you.

There is no answer to what you said. Which leaves us either with a God who is not omnipotent or not perfectly good. Or, it leaves us with a God who can overcome evil (disease) but has not done so yet. What bothers me too is if he is coming back why is he waiting? So many chances for 2,000 years.

I get what you are saying. It is about whether God is ominipotent and perfectly good when there is so much evil. Why does he allow it. For me, I believe he does care and no one can prove that does not. But he created us with free will. To directly intervene would destroy our right to choose.

The Supreme Court wrote in Citizens United that corruption requires a quid pro quo. I don't think that was the holding (would have to read it again) but it is out there.

"The mass of men live lives of quiet desperation." (Henry David Thoreau) That is true because it is what society demands of men. Men are taught early to conceal their authentic selves. That is the quiet part and leads to desperation. We need a world where everyone is free and equal.
