Want an economically competitive city? A fiscally smart city? A healthy city? A sustainable, climate-responsible & resilient city? An equitable & accessible city? A livable city? A city with more choices? A successful city today, that’s positioned for a successful future? Build a #multimodal city.

The world is turning its back on #science. But maybe, #Canada can be its lighthouse. youtube.com/shorts/u2SfB...

Thinking 4th dimensionally, as Doc Brown would say.

This seems important — we’ve been talking for a long time about how “short trips” make up a LOT of traffic in cities & have BIG implications for pollution and GHG emissions. So it’s a big opportunity to convert them to walking or biking trips. But guess what — they’re ALSO REALLY BAD FOR YOUR CAR.

The UCP talks a big game about separatism, but when it comes to healthcare, education, and affordability, they can’t even be bothered to show up. If they won’t answer to you, they don’t deserve your vote. Send a message on June 23: Vote for better. With the Alberta NDP, #BetterisPossible 🇨🇦

A world built on fossil fuels is loud. Here’s how advocates are defending peace and quiet. “It's really unbelievable, how much noise impacts so many people." grist.org/looking-forw... #Noise #Climate #FossilFuel #Environment #GreenSky

I see that the federal Liberals are taking a page out of the BC NDP's playbook and asking for a blank cheque on powers of government over-reach, albeit not *quite* so extreme. Bill 7's worst provisions were walked back, thankfully, thanks to the Greens. Hopefully the Liberals will fail similarly.

Measles cases in Alberta, from 1919 to 2025.

Corporate profits have hit record highs. CEOs are paid 290x as much as a typical worker. We're subsidizing huge corporations that pay lousy wages through food stamps and Medicaid. But instead of cracking down on corporate greed, Republicans want to punish the working poor.

It's almost as if Alberta is billions in debt because its government refuses to use basic economic levers (like a sales tax, which every other province has) to actually fund the money it spends.

This is a darn good question—why always the easy stuff we’ve done a thousand times before, and not the new and audacious and visionary? I hear renewable energy is going to be a hot market in coming decades.

2C by 2029. 0.5C HIGHER than the ‘safe limit’ agreed by 195 countries in Paris less than 10 years ago. Yet I’ve not heard a single journalist ask a leader or politician about this. We’re being boiled to death by a media & politics in the pocket of the fossil fuel industry.

How long till GOP leaders defund the FDA, because people gonna die anyway?

Happy Pride Month from Sydney 🌈

Scientists say 4 billion people, about half the world's population, experienced at least one extra month of extreme heat because of human-caused climate change from May 2024 to May 2025.

The BBC obtained a mobile phone that was smuggled out of North Korea. The level of control the regime holds over its citizens is shocking but not surprising.

This is both humanity and courage

if it takes years, has to be consequences for all these people, and even more for those who gave the orders.

The arrogance of space in cities, parking edition Parking for 10 ppl in the space one SUV would take up on Waltham's Moody St, that if we're lucky, would have 4 ppl Yet Waltham's 6-term Mayor McCarthy does not believe that bike racks belong on a sidewalk or in corrals taking up car parking

This is more true than ever. These people are bad at managing complexity. They are arrogant, lazy, and incompetent. Force them to fight complex battles on every front simultaneously.

It’s likely going to be an active wildfire season in boreal + Arctic North America *and* Eurasia. Normally one or the other. Both Canada & Siberia have early extreme fires & fire activity. Climate change will make this worse. Be prepared with evacuation plans, air purifiers, masks, & go bags.

Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home. But under Danielle Smith and the UCP, that goal is slipping further out of reach: Alberta now has the worst housing affordability in the country. We can change that. 🔽 /1
