America is not blood and soil, it’s not the English language. It’s a set of ideas, of truths that we hold to be self-evident. We owe it to future Americans not to squander the progress we’ve made towards achieving those truths. We owe it to our children, we owe it to each other.

If Newsom was any good he would use his control of the State National Guard and tell them to stand down.

He can also get his own shot and when he shoots, he's more likely to score than even most other elite attackers. I'm bummed he chose Liverpool, but c'est la vie. The people half seriously chortling "but can he do it on a rainy night in Stoke" are going to be seriously disabused.

He doesn't lower the ceiling either, he's Larry Bird-esque in that way. Need him to be a passing creator? He can do that. Need him to dribble off the wing? He can do that. Need him to drop into midfield to help the build up? He can do that *and* still create in and around the box.

He's not at Cherki's creative level (only KDB is close in chance creation metrics, Cherki is kind of an alien), but he's not that far off and he doesn't constrain your squad building in the same way that Cherki does. He takes nothing off the table, raises the floor of a team by a lot.

He breaks lines at an elite level. He's a very good dribbler, he's got good physical attributes, good size, Statsbomb alums mentioned that he's among the highest scores in the world in their ball striking metrics. High end creative and scoring metrics and pretty respectable defensive activity.

Not lost on me that the Stars fired him *after* the Pens and Rangers filled their vacancies.

I do have a theory that sometimes coaches get their best results where they walk into a room and can do more to fix what was wrong with the previous system than degrade what was right, but that edge fades away over about 18 months.

In seriousness though, I think he knows that and knew next season was going to be an implosion if he stayed on. Getting himself fired means he gets a new room to be abrasive in and his method clearly works for a while.

Without a doubt. VGK was so sick of him they won a spite Cup.

Sometimes Connor McDavid and his Hart-caliber other center stunt on you, that’s gonna happen. Not a lot you can do about that other than curse the sky.

I don’t think he’s very good and I’m skeptical it will even be good for two seasons.

God, I hope not.

Driving sucks, walking and trains are so much better that it beggars belief.

Liberty has been on my “I will never buy anything from you for any reason” list because of that fucking jingle for years now. Same as Empire whatever it is they sell.

This reads to me like they identified a specific tactical weakness to attack.

They sell the mix to make them in the grocery store and it’s A Problem.

Oh, I would. Robertson is the best case (frankly beyond the reasonable best case) you could hope for from either of them.

I would happily trade either one for Robertson, wouldn’t even think about it.

That or Ait-Nouri. Heard some noise about Flamengo Wesley but I think the 50m price tag was a non-starter.

Sure, but none of that stuff matters from the point of view of the buying team looking at €/production.
