Everyone should say it: The thing about Stephen Miller is not that he is the brains behind Trumpism. Yes, he is one of the people who conceptualizes the impulses of the Trumpist movement and translates them into policy. But that's not what's interesting about Miller. It's not brains. It's bile.

looks like an objective assessment to me

there is a particular online left-lib brainworm that can be summarized as "all forms of protest are equally good except for actions involving strategic decisions about messaging and targeting"

So do we get why I was banned from speaking about Pinochet at the Naval Academy now?

A thing that occasionally keeps me up late is thinking about how it alters the parameters for authoritarianism when a significant chunk of law enforcement & protest suppression can be fully automated.

Immigrants are the engine that powers the American economy. They’re a positive good and we should be inviting more of them, not fewer. If you’re having a conniption because you overheard someone speaking Spanish at a grocery store, you’re unfit to hold your citizenship.

Trump wanted to feel powerful so 2k National Guard members have been federalized in order to hand ICE water bottles

Also for folks who are so loudly complaining about there not being any live coverage on national news tonight - this is why! Even LA local networks have stopped doing livestream coverage and are showing previously recorded footage.

These are crimes. They're committing crimes. And when people understandably protest the fact that they're committing crimes, they're shooting flashbangs at them.

I loathe Musk as much as anyone else but for a sitting president to openly threaten a private citizen over what political donations he or she chooses to make is a reminder of how authoritarian this country is becoming by the day - by the hour even!

The Trump administration would love to use war-style brutality and violence to attack all protestors. About 35% of the country would cheer it. Remind me why I should feel any community, any common humanity, any need to connect with those people.

"These are real people with real families" cool when they come home do they tell the kids about how they busted up an elementary school graduation that day

i think the source of failure here is the total lack of elite accountability

your inability to hold hate in your heart for more than one person at a time is a skill issue and you should work on it instead of being proud like this

So it looks like Wirtz to Liverpool is done, according to a T1 Leverkusen source. On about 400K€ a week with a transfer fee of about 150M€. Phenomenal player, maybe the best in the world at finding space between the lines. He shows for the ball at elite levels in build up.

I know DeBoer was probably looking to get himself canned with his Oettinger demolition, but the guy has made more conference finals in the last five years than the Caps have in the last fifty. Sometimes you lose to *checks notes* the third best forward in the history of the game?

I think whoever brought these charges should be fired (into the sun).

I got to commute via Metro for 4 years and it was hands down the best commuter experience I’ve ever had.

@boshnroll.bsky.social aside from foundational concepts like “spend your mana as efficiently as possible”, I don’t think I’ve leveled up from any content more than hearing you talk through your sideboarding decisions over the years.

This seems like a great day to remind Bluesky that Stephen Miller lived four doors down from me freshman year And our student council person asked him (and everyone) to sign a birthday card for our dorm’s janitor And he threw a tantrum and wrote an op-ed about not socializing with “the help.”

if nothing else comes out of this, Democrats getting over their dumb scruples and swinging away on the Epstein stuff would be a win

Stephen Miller is privately raging over deportation numbers he deems too low. So he's shifting huge amounts of law enforcement resources away from fighting serious crimes and into his immigration crackdown. If voters knew about this, they'd recoil. 1/ (new piece) newrepublic.com/article/1961...

makes clear safety sense for everyone, e-bike riders included, for anything that can do over say 20 mph to require a motorcycle license and be ridden on the street
