I like to think I am a thoughtful, kind, pragmatic fellow on my best days. On my worst days, I'm just another jerk. Wishing you a blessed day.

The "freedom for me but not for thee" party.

LLMs are great for filtering through conventional wisdom and human knowledge. I do worry we will lose our out on creativity and genuinely unconventional thinking because it will be so easy to get a satisfactory conventional answer.

Must is much more in danger of being finished. Trump's worst case is a flesh wound.
comment in response to post
Would that it will be so, but I'm doubtful. Incels might break for Musk, but the rest of MAGA is going to side with Trump. This is not a fair fight.
comment in response to post
He smells blood in the water.
comment in response to post
Meh, I think this fight is more likely to send a lot of people on X over to Truth Social. Musk is way overmatched in this fight and won't win any demographic except incels.
comment in response to post
This is not even close to a fair fight. Musk will dominate the incel demographic, but every other MAGA normie will back Trump over Musk. It's not even close. They're both awful people, but Trump knows how to read people and Musk hasn't a clue.

I'm not sure Elon's ketamine-addled brain is smart enough to pull something like this off, but it would just take one DOGE dweeb with half a brain, no moral integrity, and a willingness to roll the dice to set off a crisis.

Impeach Trump and piss on Musk.
comment in response to post
I think Trump is far too stupid to understand just how much power he gave the DOGE dweebs and what some of them might do if they are pushed back on.
comment in response to post
That said, this story is still in its infancy and there will be a lot of twists and turns. One key question in my mind is if/to what extent DOGE has compromised government systems and extracted data on millions of Americans that it can leverage as blackmail to get what it wants.

My Pillow was a shit product that had little market value. Tesla is supposed to be the next Amazon (years of losses followed by meteoric consolidation of market share and huge profits). I've always been skeptical of this, but they need government subsidies or more massive stock gains for funding.
comment in response to post
If they are shrewd -- and many of these likely have the basic level of intelligence and complete lack of moral integrity to pull this off -- they have already compromised data on millions of Americans and the functioning of the US government which they can use as leverage for their own benefit.

They agree that they had bought each other off, but they fundamentally disagree about the terms of purchase.
comment in response to post
If they are shrewd, they've already compromised data of millions of Americans which they can use for personal leverage. And I'd guess a lot of these dweebs have that level of basic understanding of strategy and have that low level of moral integrity.

But Nutlick is proof that we can elevate banana brains in this country to some of the highest positions.

Nah, Trump only cares about loyalty and Thiel knows how to use Trump to get what he wants. Musk's problem is his inflated ego, extremely thin skin, and of course, rampant drug abuse.
comment in response to post
Continuing drug abuse and mental health breakdown seem sadly inevitable. Despise the guy, but still hope I'm wrong about this.
comment in response to post
It's hilarious that he thinks he can beat Trump in a popularity contest. Maybe among incels, but not in the broader MAGA population...
comment in response to post
If Trump limps his big beautiful bill to the finish line, it won't really matter. The party is more religious cult than place for debate. Musk can't win his battle against Trump.
comment in response to post
And both are supreme bullshit artists. This bromance always had a short expiration date.
comment in response to post
He's mad that his EV subsidies are getting cut. The only thing DOGE accomplished was getting him government contracts without competition. The idea that this clown cares about the deficit more than keeping the government spigot going to fund his financial empire is absurd.

Hard to pick one scene from this movie, but I loved the 80s movie Clue. Favorite movie to watch growing up. Full of slapstick comedy.

She's about 30 points short of an average IQ.

More abuse of government that MAGA conservatives supposedly hated until Trump came into the White House.
comment in response to post
The people who make it to top of the government almost all have a kink for lying straight to your face.

UATX just reveals in greater clarity the fundamental splintering in higher education between educators and administrative revenue/profit seekers. Educators are being pressed on all sides, and it is hardly surprising that UATX is more antagonistic to actual education than mainstream universities.

I have respect for the author. He principles are worthwhile and it was worth fighting for them at UATX, even though this outcome is far from surprising. There are people at UATX that are trying to do admirable work, but the rich donor assholes will likely sink the project.

Can you please post the translation into English? I can't understand whatever language that was.

His name is Nutlick, which also happens to be his profession.

Exactly. This pope is ... Catholic. He's also going to be against abortion, against homosexuality, and against sex outside of marriage. He's going to express Catholic views as head of the Catholic Church. The thing about MAGA is many of them call themselves Christians but worship Trump, not Christ.

It's called Fermat's Last Theorem because immediately upon discovering the proof -- and before he could write it down -- he was assumed into heaven by God.

"We were losing so much money paying out the winning bets. It was so unfair! So we stopped. We'll take the money when they buy the chips, but we won't pay the winning bets. That's so much more fair for us. We'd have made a fortune if it weren't for the WOKE customers boycotting us."

"All the poles are telling me I'm morally abhorrent. Could I be in the wrong?" "Upon further reflection, no. Clearly every pope is possessed by demons."

And the retirees who are sad about their retirement account being eviscerated should just have it explained to them that they will have a better life for it. And the workers who lose their job as businesses fail should just have it explained to them that they will have a better life for it.

The economy is likely to slow down in the coming months because Trump wants to keep his tariffs in place. If he had brains, he would unwind his tariffs and he could win a messaging war, fooling most of his MAGA base into thinking he brought jobs back to America. But he doesn't.
comment in response to post
The markets recovered and short-term pain from tariffs has been minimal so far. There's no messaging that changes that reality. Trump's fatal flaw is that rather than taking this opportunity to walk back his tariffs (and claim victory by getting previous tariff rates back in place), he'll overreach.
comment in response to post
More than twice as many are scaling down operations or closing down than relocating production to the USA. So we get a net loss of jobs to go with our higher prices. MAGA!

The real Rubio is a spineless sycophant who will bend with whatever wind will propel him to power and wealth. There never was any there there. The goal of going back to pre-Trump politics is not that the politicians will become heroes, but that they will cynically feel compelled to act virtuously.
comment in response to post
I'd stop short of calling him the literal antichrist, but he appeals to Christians by telling them to abandon their moral values to acquire worldly power. That is not the work of God; that is the temptation of Satan. Woe to those who fall under the sway of Evil.
