But now, some grown-ups in charge want to change that rule and make it less strict. That means more of those sneaky chemicals could end up in our water, which isn’t good for our health. People who care about clean water are saying, ā€œWait! We need to keep our water safe for everyone!ā€ 5/5

So scientists and grown-ups are trying to figure out how to clean it up and stop it from getting out in the first place. Imagine if you had a rule that said, ā€œNo yucky stuff in our water!ā€ That rule helped keep bad chemicals, like GenX and other ā€œforever chemicals,ā€ out of the water we drink. 4/5

But here’s the tricky part: once GenX gets out into nature—like into rivers or the ground—it doesn’t go away easily. It stays there a long, long time, and that can be a problem for animals, people, and the planet. 3/5

You know how water is wet and helps plants grow? GenX chemicals are kind of like water’s sneaky cousins—but instead of helping things grow, they’re used to make stuff like nonstick pans and waterproof clothes. They help make things slippery or strong. 2/5

lol right? It's such a weird form of excessive replies. My cynical self assumes it's just masquerading as something non hostile to the average bsky user and harvesting from followers.

Love it. I've been wondering all this time — and clearly missed it — why?! Did this stem from trauma? Avascular necrosis of the femoral head? Good ol' fashion shitty luck?
