A bit of an older one but Malamander by Thomas Taylor. Only a couple of chapters in but enjoying it so far. šŸ˜€ How are you finding your books Tom?

I’m not a fan of hardbacks but I will buy them if I’m desperate to read a new book. I find them difficult to hold and cumbersome if I want to take them out on the go. I’ve bought more recently as there are so many new books/ sequels but wouldn’t buy them by choice. #sundaymorningbookchat

I mostly enjoy audiobooks. There have been a few adult ones I haven’t enjoyed as much. I have listened to some great audiobooks for children- including the Greenwild books! I think the narrator makes a big difference!

Probably Tyger by SF Said. ā¤ļø

Hookablebooks.com I post about children’s books, both middle grade and picture books. Not YA or adult currently. I’m on most platforms - instagram, Facebook etc but only really post now on BlueSky.

I’ve always loved history generally. However, with someone like Emma Carroll I think her writing is so good and immersive that I feel like I’m transported back to the time books are set in. It becomes less about the act of reading and more about the imagination!

I love fantasy in particular. Loved Tyger by SF Said, The Hunt for the Golden Scarab, The Whisperwicks etc. But also a fan of historical fiction - pretty much anything by Emma Carroll. Really like The Valley of Lost Secrets too by Lesley Parr.

I’m going on a school trip later this week so this might be the perfect preparation!

Haven’t yet come across this one. I hope the trip goes well.

I think I’d have to get someone to mix them up and choose left or right to be honest. 🤣 That’d be the only way!

Ooo I’d say different books depending. Generally something like Secrets of a Sun King by Emma Carroll in Year 5. They are fascinated by the Ancient Egyptians. My Year 4 class loved Wild Robot because they found it really funny. The Valley of Lost Secrets also went down a treat! They loved Ronnie.
