where you know this is just bullshit decorum "please be nicer to me and my friends" crap and not actual political change is in that interview they go on about moulton being excommunicated for his trans views, when him being loudly criticized is a big part WHY he voted against the trans sports bill.

same as the shit of "lefties need to be more persuasive" shit, are they ever talking about actual left organizations, left leaders, people and groups who matter that you can make a demand of...?
no! it's always random people on social media and maybe a podcast that pisses them off!

and again, it's not something you can enforce either! who is this being asked of? is it actual, specific queer rights groups? leaders? named organizations, named people, something you can actually materially work with?
no! it's just a "other random trans people please be more patient".

it's just individual bullshit. it means basically nothing in terms of actual policy success or failures. where it matters is largely just personal friendships and conflict handling at your job. "everyone please be more patient and polite" is not something you can turn into policy change.

it drives me fucking crazy. all this "be more patient, make space for imperfect allies" does not actually fucking mean anything in terms of policy or political strategy. there is nothing you can organize around here for change. it's just toothless "please be more polite?"

what dems could offer on this stupid bullshit in terms of actual is basically... bills to ban sensitivity training, corporate DEI stuff, making it essentially illegal for anybody to have to go to a "please be nice to your coworkers" meeting again.
this would not work either, mind you!

"i promise everyone will be nicer and more patient to you about trans stuff and we'll never talk about pronouns" is not something any organization or politician can actually promise anybody to make them feel more relaxed about the queers, not that it'd work even if they could.

and what could you do to make the people who wish you just weren't so 'pushy' happy anyway? keeping in mind that a right wing media will constantly be hitting them with 'trans people are shrill freaks' so even if you personally are Super Kind And Gentle, it just does not fucking scale.

it's the david brooks theory of change where if we all just personally have one on one conversations with conservatives we will affect mass change. there is no actual organization here to turn this into policy change, it's just "man, i'd like it if people talked to each other more."

there is no means to actually get every trans person online and offline to all decide to be sweet, soft, more patient, gentle. you can want it all you like, there is no mechanism to actually enforce this. and from there, even if you could, how does it actually turn into policy change?

it's very akin to "if every leftie protester just had perfect message control-", which is an impossible demand with no enforcement mechanism and has no theory of power or change. it's turning individual conflict and tensions between friend groups or a dustup at your job as the be-all end-all.

that mcbride interview, there's all that talk of how we should do things, be more 'graceful', patient, whatever. say you even agree with all that.
what does that actually mean in actual policy terms and strategies you can legislate/enforce/extract? like where does this actually go?

One of the dumbest things in politics (not the OP's point, a GOP point) is the idea that black bloc rioters are the paramilitary wing of the Democratic Party, like they're breaking up concrete to throw at cop cars and thinking "who's more electable, Buttigieg or AOC?"

Everything was fine until Trump decided to unleash violent raids w/o grounds in elementary schools, shopping areas, & peaceful public spaces.
ICE then illegally blocked Members of Congress entry into the facilities they are disappearing people into, escalating the situation.
Let’s start there.

True. He doesn't need to for indirect factors to influence him tho.

If you study the successful rebellions and resistance and civil rights movements of the past, you will note that “people who spend their time publicly bumming out everyone around them by emphasizing how totally fucked everything is” do not play a central role, or indeed, any role at all
