It's a good photo, but your present one looks more professional. Is that a good thing? Either way, it's all a good look.

I think your usual profile pic is better.

Ha! I was getting married the next weekend and I decided I'd had enough of all the organising and ran off to the cinema for the afternoon to watch this.

It's hilarious. And northern accents are just plain funny, though that's probably my roots showing.

I taught in Faust House in Charles Square, Prague, in 1993. Where Mephistopheles took Faust through the ceiling.

I used to love comics and still have an affection for Moebius and Metal Hurlant and will still read Alan Moore. But the idea of doing a comic is still there in the background. But the time needed...Anyway, it sounds fascinating.

Impressive.

Hi CB. Sounds great. Love the 'ravaged sandbox'. Hope it's going well. And a female protagonist too!

Great title. And great plot. I love cross-genre. Mine was a sci-fi thriller. Quatermass meets George Smiley. A comic series? Comic book? Are you illustrating it?

Two great examples are Ablutions, by Patrick deWitt and Your Fault, by Andrew Cowan. Both are superb. Interesting that the second person singular only really works in the present tense.

I think it will be well worthwhile. And you'll get to meet NCW people too. By all means mention me. They're a very personable, thoughtful organisation. And thanks! I'm being methodical, and still managing to write each day, if only 200 words sometimes.

Last night I dreamt I turned into a werewolf in daylight, and tried to find somewhere to hide. I moved so fast I hoped people would think I was a dog - I managed to leap over a huge park gate. Then today I saw this and now I feel much better.

Two years ago a family member said to me, 'There no wars under Trump during his presidency.' He asked me what I thought of him, and without actually swearing, I said he was the most dangerous man on earth. Why bother with wars when you can choke the whole world?

Is that the publishing fair? I've been along once and enjoyed it. It's a good chance to meet East Anglian publishers and writers in general. Haven't forgotten about the promised gathering, btw. I'll give you a shout. It's all OU marking at the moment. Blimey...

Particularly love the cover of War. Very moving.

Really good. At first I thought, Why have I come all this way? I usually struggle with literary gatherings. But I spoke to some really likeable publishers and handed out some flyers. Bumped into @scratchbooks.bsky.social who get me back on my literary feet two years ago.

Hi Laura. Love the analogy. Yes, I can hear the music echoing into the vacuum. I'm a lot better, thanks. One of those emails that knocks the stuffing out of you. I was bruised for about two hours then, as all writers do, I was ready to carry on. Went to the Alt. Book Fair on Saturday.

Thanks, Simon. I actually felt better just for typing that to writers out there, like yourself.

Thank you, Julie. I'll tell her.
