I saw that speech on the evening news as the uprising was underway. The look on Ceaușescu's face when they started booing is priceless.

Is it OK if I tag you next time I see somebody citing Merriam-Webster as a legal authority?

IMHO, Democratic learned helplessness comes from them not wanting to antagonize donors.

It sounds like you're actually better at Discord than I am. You understand the GUI well enough to complain about it. In my case, the GUI utterly defeats me.

Had to check out that web site. Guess what I found?

It's the same reaction I get when writers confuse "train whistles" with "train horns" (something else I've seen the same writer do). It's not about bad language, it's about bad reality.

My issue here is not that "physician's assistant" is "incorrect" (like M-W's editors, I don't believe in "correct English") but that no PA would ever call themselves that. Medical people, unlike descriptivist lexicographers, are very sticky about terminology.

There's a "main entry" for "physician assistant" too. M-W is a "descriptivist" dictionary, so any usage that's widely used gets noted, without them saying which is "correct."

Reminds me of a certain best-selling author I can't read any more because he uses terms like "physician's assistant."

Watched it on the San Jose public TV station back in the 80s. (I miss the days when public TV wasn't all big budget soap operas.) I remember liking the acting and the storytelling, but wondering at their weird attempts at American accents!

Which shows a nasty lack of awareness of how physical disability works. I live in a building set aside for senior and disabled people, which means that I have a *lot* of neighbors with mobility issues. Their transportation needs are met by various public services, not convenient parking.

I don't want to see a single person saying this was warranted by the carnage in Gaza, that this was for Palestinians.
I am a Palestinian person and I do not want senseless acts of terror committed in my name. I don't want Jewish organizations to need extra security because of fear of violence.

They're trivial to use: you just issue commands and questions in plain English. The One Big Issue is their tendency to recite utter bullshit. ChatGPT once assured me that I had died in 2016.

Funny thing about Grok is that it often says things on issues like gender that Elon obviously wouldn't approve of. I suspect he doesn't play a big role in development of Grok, except to issue the odd directive that it emphasize white supremacist memes.
