I do not think people are actually seriously calibrated for how rabidly anti-university the MAGA right is and how core that is to their policy goals. It is probably the #2 issue after immigration for them, and for some of them it’s higher.

Yeah. The NYTimes story is loaded with material that is defamation "per se" under many states' laws (including Texas), which would turbocharge any lawsuit Musk brought, removing his need to prove damages. NYTimes' counsel knows that. To print it, they must have immaculate sources.

I think that the Trump administration really does not understand that Putin truly, deeply, existentially *cares* about Ukraine and EEurope. Trump & cie only see small, weak countries and their way too crude, almost childish "realism" makes them totally unable to understand how actual empires work.
