Same men who permanently strap an underused $7000 mountain bike to the back of their weirdly pristine trucks and jeeps covered in mil-spec storage compartment add-ons. Being a man in BC means tacking extras onto everything like a bird who adorns its nest in bits of shiny litter.

This is the part where the theremin sound intensifies but the audience doesn’t understand the cue until it’s too late

Love it! And the diminutive age thing is perfect, cuz adult bros, like wilful children, are just as clueless about how they show up in the world

Wondering: What is the era-specific German for “bro” and with what frequency it was used as a term for imploring and belittling as it is now

“Just give me the gist of it” is an accelerant towards wilful stupidity, but also a flex for those who have built whole personalities around telling people how busy they are and how valuable their time is

Right? This weird obsession with cycling through a list of “save us, Daddy” figures reveals more about us than a collective raising of elbows.

Brilliant in all ways. So many illustrators and animators “phone in” the guitar, but your rendering could lead in a product catalogue 🎸❤️

Congratulations, David. We need more published smarts in these silly times, especially writers who are good with covering the democracy beat *and* know the value of a double-XP weekend

If I remember right, one of the novelties of original Cabbage Patch dolls was that they smelled like baby powder.
Your retake should smell exclusively of hard-boiled cabbage.

I wonder if “forever” actually refers to the amount of time he plans to stay away, or the amount time he plans to capitalize on stating he will leave?

DMZ was the height for sure. Rumours and leaks abound re: “DMZ 2” coming next year 👀
Still a dedicated player base now, though. Last year I did some graphic and merch work for @dillonfps who streams on YT. His streams make me wish DMZ was still a thing. The guy is an artist on the map.

Me too. B06/Warzone has been a mixed bag, so I have pivoted to polishing up on multiplayer map movement in anticipation of (hopefully) better things to come with improvements to Warzone

This really spiked in the pandemic, with commenters unable to see the irony in arguing at length and across several threads that a thing isn’t important and everyone should shut up and talk about something else.

The right-leaning media juggernaut gained momentum via AM radio talk shows, which I heard played daily in every warehouse, delivery, and kitchen job I ever had. I wonder if flooding the zone won out over creating any balanced “marketplace of ideas.”

“A man thinks that by mouthing hard words he understands hard things“ (Melville)
Many North American men have embraced this broken-headed affectation as their identity, and more than a few have built whole influencer/follower empires on the same.
Nowhere to go but down from here…

I wonder if it’s their aggression that ratchets up with age, or that their worst tendencies calcify with time and they become emboldened caricatures of their already detestable selves. They certainly surround themselves with enough enablers to make this transition to “worse” all but invisible

Funny that the same chuds who held our capital hostage in a celebratory fit of petulance and threats of violence now demand decorum and apologies from the very people they sought (and seek) to rattle. Their ever-mutating grievance party deserves to be called out in plain language. Good work, Charlie

The perfect Canadian Heritage Moment. No narrator needed, just a montage of empty bourbon bottles, news feed scrolling, and people sitting and looking thoroughly defeated

Yes. There’s usually a thin-soup aspect of “truth” somewhere in the mix. But make no mistake—the drama and pretext of a bully suddenly becoming righteous about “fixing” a thing means that bully is gonna devour that thing whole, no matter the facts. The drama lays the groundwork.

Orange 47’s amped messaging on the Northern border has the familiar ring of “there’s WMDs and we can’t afford not to act.” It’s untrue but highly effective for same reasons.

Critics who demand that journalists exercise an unwavering, robotic duty to “unbiased” reporting often live in a headspace constructed of imaginary boogie men and conspiracies so many layers thick, you could convince them the sky was a different color and they would believe the idea was their own

In Canada, “let’s ensure we use our brand colours” often becomes “if we don’t cover every millimetre of available space with our brand colour, people will forget what they’re watching/reading/scrolling and be thrown into fits of confusion.” Unsure brands always opt for more color and a larger logo
