If it's true tallow and not suet you can just use very cold shredded/grated tallow in place of lard in most lard-based short pastry recipes. Julia's is a great mix of reliable and good; the Larousse lard-based pâté en crôute is my favorite, but is finicky.

That shit is indisputably dope as hell, but remember that double-knit polyester feels like you're wearing a shirt made out of Legos.

I have no idea why Burmese food never became A Thing in America. It hits everything Americans love about food: warm, comforting umami flavors while still feeling fresh, clean, and light. We need TMZ photos of Timothée and Kylie splitting some sibyan and a tea leaf salad and get these aphwas PAID.

"Winning Time" did an impressive job of including this type of minutiae while making the deal feel both entertaining and as stressful as Uncut Gems, all in 10 minutes of screen time. I still can't believe they cancelled that show.

I also have bad French and played E33 in French with English subtitles. There are similarly significant translation differences throughout the game. It's interesting to get the story simultaneously from two different perspectives, so to speak.

It chose to destroy itself rather than live with Elon Musk. He can't help but feel a little rejected.

I knew a kid in high whose parents would hide empty beer cans around the house before they left. If the cans were gone when they got home they knew she'd had a party and had cleaned up.

Goddammit. It's been right there staring us in the face this whole time and I never noticed. Well done.

Also Boomers pressed their GenX and Millennial children to go to college specifically because they didn't want them working shitty factory jobs. I swear to god the tiny amount these people think they know about history and sociology they learned from movies and television.

I like anything by the one who's dead or the one who wishes he was dead, but not the one everyone else wishes was dead.

Also this is the last week that asparagus is good. Please go buy thinnest, freshest asparagus you can find. Serve raw or flash-poached in court bouillon and dressed with Meyer lemon juice, thyme, and olive oil. Grate a boiled egg yolk over the top if you're feeling kicky.

There's a seriously slept-on William Gibson book from 1996 that talks about this topic. It's strange that it's not better-known: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idoru

There's a Ramona story where she gets in trouble for being late to school after her mother tells her to leave at "a quarter after 8:00," which Ramona takes to mean 8:25, since a quarter is worth 25 cents. I think that Ramona Quimby was right and that a quarter of an hour should be 25 minutes.

I think he just gets buccal fat removal like most people get haircuts. His face is the only non-obese part of his body.

Legit thinking about it, at least as an IDA or Ghidra plug-in.

I initially parsed this as Return-Oriented Gadget Ally, i.e. a Copilot-esque tool for helping chain gadgets for return-oriented shell code development and was like “wait that’s actually an LLM-driven dev tool that could be useful” And now I still think it would be useful but it doesn’t exist :/

Singles or Say Anything. Though there's probably a movie not set in Seattle that also has a good soundtrack.
