Yes! Forgot that I was waiting for this to be translated! Vita Nostra has stayed in my head like few other books in the last decade, incredible read.

Also you might want the standalone paperback of Exodus, as Epiphany includes an editing error "correcting" a pronoun with fairly major consequences

And his response was why is this a factor? He recently said that? In the United States? Ok.

That's a polite way of saying it. He hates workers and must be removed. He is deporting workers with no due process. Time to remind him we hold the power, all we have to do is choose to use it.

Yea probably a lot less resistance to a strike if you've got a ton of unemployed workers on the books. Next few weeks are gonna be interesting when the tariff consequences really hit

Tough timing after about 50 years of very effectively destroying unions.
Even a very strong union in a very liberal city like Chicago, iuec local 2, is mostly comprised of Trump voters willing to give away their livelihoods if it satisfies their racism. Thank god the leaders are a little smarter.

Getting teamsters on board shouldn't be impossible. Probably more likely than tech workers, those people get more anti-union propaganda than anyone. A teamster strike would hit those bankers and traders where it counts.

Commonalty. Love it. Just came across "unensanguined" in the title chapter

We have to have unions behind this. They have strike funds. We need a big one. Dockworkers will be very important.
Things will have to get so bad that the AFL-CIO agrees that a general strike is necessary. Somehow this isn't bad enough.
Maybe try to join up with the hands off Tesla protests

You're probably familiar with it, but Gene Wolfe, a Catholic (with some very fun heretical views on pagan gods), wrote an essay exploring this idea somewhat. It was rejected from whichever anthology it was for, but very interesting for Tolkien and Wolfe fans.

Strange, because monumental middle-earth events happen entirely because of romance...
If they don't have sex on page it didn't happen I guess.

Right, I stopped at Marlfox but it looked like Jacques eventually wrote characters as "exceptions" to the species rule. Not great. But got me into fantasy.

Elissa McBride reminded everyone in Davenport that 40% of Iowa births depend on Medicaid. Cutting federal funding means cutting care when families need it most.

Very good point, thanks for explaining my subconscious irritation to me.
Tolkien was great at this.

I'd get masted if I told my wife what time I could text in the coast guard, in case she was letting drug smugglers know our patrol schedule.

Fantastic read, thank you! I'm wondering what you thought of War of the Rohirrim. The filmmakers seemed to underwrite Helm's actions as complicated but ultimately justified. The indigenous Dunlending angle went right over my head if it was there. I left wondering what the point was.
