It's not just silence. Two sources tell me that senior figures on BBC Breakfast have in recent days been downplaying the seriousness of a complaint upheld against editor Richard Frediani last year, when a woman accused him of physically shaking her.

Deadline revealed in March how Frediani was the subject of at least two BBC misconduct complaints, including one from a woman who had her grievance upheld after claiming that the Breakfast editor physically shook her during a newsroom exchange last year. deadline.com/2025/03/bbc-...

Update: Following my story above, YouTube yanked ad revenue from a couple of big boy fake movie trailer channels. YouTube declined to answer a bunch of other questions about how its algorithm boosts these AI-heavy knockoffs ahead of official trailers. deadline.com/2025/03/yout...

Jack did actually lament comedy also being a victim. He asked if Dad's Army or Only Fools would be made in current climate.

Perhaps, but the Beeb no longer has a monopoly on these stories

Yes, I think that's a legitimate concern here. The UK govt has already said it has "no plans" to introduce a levy, though ministers have been open to discussions about the idea.

There's no way it would not have hit the same on Prime Video

An interesting nugget from Jack Thorne: Adolescence was originally developed for Amazon Prime Video. Can you imagine the inquest going on over there as the series has become the most-watched show on Netflix in 71 countries? deadline.com/2025/03/adol...

Culture committee chair Caroline Dinenage said the claims about Frediani are “deeply disappointing and frustrating,” and part of a “conveyor belt of unacceptable behaviour." She said the FOI figures suggest the BBC is failing to take misconduct seriously. deadline.com/2025/03/bbc-...

Figures obtained under FOI raise questions about the BBC's "zero tolerance" position after a wave of power abuse scandals. The BBC only meted out punishment in around a third of cases where bullying, harassment and sexual harassment complaints were upheld. deadline.com/2025/03/bbc-...

Richard Frediani has faced bullying and misconduct claims, but his influence has grown. He was handed News at One soon after the BBC upheld a complaint about the alleged shaking incident. Our story reflects on disquiet behind Breakfast’s famous red sofa. deadline.com/2025/03/bbc-...

Davie cautioned against giving Westood a final warning in April 2010 after a complaint regarding the DJ's on-air sexual innuendo about “red velvet cake.” Davie told the barrister review that the threat of firing Westwood could have been "disproportionate" to his remarks.

A subplot of the Tim Westwood review: how clean is Tim Davie? The BBC director general headed up radio for 4 years of Westwood's era. Today's barrister review says Davie had "very limited involvement with Westwood or issues relating to him," but there was one nugget (cont.)...
