@samir.nyc I’ll second this. Can we/CB5 ask DOT to prioritize daylighting the east side of this intersection?

"Less than 1 in 12 reports of a car on the Sidewalk results in a summons. NYPD is not effective at parking enforcement"

In the past few years DOT has showed a desire to move away from curbside bus-only lanes because enforcement of them is so lacking.

NYC Law (Admin Code § 19-182.2) requires DOT to maintain a checklist of "safety-enhancing street design elements for all major transportation projects" which is required to include protected bike lanes. There is no justifiable reason for omitting safety features from this capital project.

This is me with the XtraCycle in 2016 - probably one of my first TA Activist photos during bike-the-branches.

Did they run a RCV simulation, or am I just missing it?

Bonus points for streetcar track?

10x points for uncovered rail

The immediate response is the security guard in this building would remove it right back. Not a solution. DOT should finish installing this bike lane.

NYPD “took action” on my report of vehicles in queensbridge along the path. 311-22988661 If someone can get a photo of the same vehicles still present, send it along.

And when will you stop renewing the permit for this 4yr old “temporary generator” in the 52nd st bike lane?

That’s as good as I can come up with.

Nope! Everything favors the car in this situation. The sidewalk is part of the street and you can't as a private individual enforce any public laws there.

It’s sickening. Everything is upside down, but I 100% agree. Speaking truth is neither of the things people say it is.

SUV's creeping into the intersections on red turn signals are the absolute worst. They know they can bully their way through. Every time it happens it feels like insult to injury knowing red light cameras don't care about that type of behavior.

I took this photo in Seattle yesterday (First Ave. in Belltown, a few blocks north of Pike Place)

And the street fair isn’t even there! It’s a block over.

I can’t believe they haven’t gotten him to perjure himself by now in saying he will hit the goal, and then just refer him for prosecution.

He even said that he sponsored it in the hearing! I’m sorry you don’t get to pass it off as “now we know better so it doesn’t count”

The other flip side of the coin which nullifies DOT's foil that lack of support is the problem, is that many CB's like Manhattan CB4 have unanimous support from all elected for *more* bike lanes, and DOT can't and won't deliver. Lack of support isn't the root problem - that's just a scapegoat.

Some do fight, but DOT has no obligation to their complaining - DOT has an obligation to the law, and can say to any complaining council member "sorry, you have to pass a law and change the required miles if you don't want me to do this"

The driver went right back in the bike lane after passing me. I tried.

Here is how it plays out: if the intersection at 44th gets gridlocked for more than two light cycles, drivers either start cutting through to turn out of traffic, or to drive through because the through lane is blocked (after 44th the tunnel traffic narrows to the left two lanes)

The “I’m going to pretend it’s legal to drive a block in the bike lane to make a turn”. Dear reader, we both know it’s not.
