@benefitstheband.bsky.social - all booked up for KU in Stockton. Yabadabadoooooooooooooo!

So Nigel Farage has replaced Boris Johnson as the MP trousering the most money from other jobs. Farage has pocketed over £570,000 in outside income in just six months. I brought a Bill to ban all MPs' Second Jobs. I'll keep pushing to end this racket once and for all.

Football is officially dead in the water; www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Just joined the @greenparty.org.uk so as to vote for @zackpolanski.bsky.social in the leadership contest. Have been contributing monthly to Greens for last 2 years, but never joined a political party before. This is important however.

"He rattles off a list of socialist positions he would seek to enact: “protecting the NHS”; “building social homes’; a “wealth tax”; and stopping the “genocide in Gaza”. The 'radicals' are actually the Labour government deepening inequality, worsening the climate crisis & arming a genocide.

Our government is selling arms being used to commit genocide. Israel kills a child every 45 minutes. We are all Palestine Action. 🇵🇸

🚨A hugely important point made by Richard Burgon which all Labour MP’s thinking of voting for this Bill should be made aware of

Fairly certain shouting the same about the Iranian Revolutionary Guard would not invite police attention and general condemnation

The BBC didn't broadcast Kneecap at Glastonbury but they did broadcast Bob Vylan and his "Death, death to the IDF" chant. Oops BBC, better hope no one spreads their mistake.

Good morning! www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

For months the govts narrative has been that disabled people are shirkers/scroungers who are separate to, & stealing from, working people (who Lab say they represent) So of course WS wont say that everybody who gets disability benefits deserves them. Remember, fraud in PIP is 0%

I fucking love Bob Vylan and Kneecap. 🇵🇸🇮🇪

Wes Streeting thinks people chanting "Death to the IDF" is appalling and both the BBC & Glastonbury have things to answer. What's appalling is the UK govt, of which Streeting is a member, supporting, arming & militarily assisting Israel while it commits genocide.

Channel 4 to show BBC-commissioned documentary Gaza: Doctors Under Attack BBC last week announced it had dropped the film over concerns it may create a ‘perception of partiality’ www.theguardian.com/media/2025/j...

Starmer says fixing welfare is a 'moral imperative'. Politicians riding moral horses always fall. Nothing moral about Deepening poverty Taking freebies, political donations Hitting the disabled Betrayal of the 1950s born women Regressive taxes Privatised utilities Unchecked profiteering

Rod Stewart, the ageing millionaire rocker, asks Britons to vote for Farage/Reform. Millionaires won't suffer effects of racism; loss of human/worker rights, public services; destruction of the NHS, economic mayhem. Just binned a CD collection.

Makes sense. Sailing is about people in small boats disrespecting international borders.

1. Researching my latest column, I was astonished to stumble across this. Sarah Langford presents herself as a guardian of the countryside and champion of rural people and their culture. Yet it’s hard to imagine anything more damaging to rural people than “living between” two homes. 🧵

Starmer knows that juries often look leniently on conscientious acts of protest So now he is calling it terrorism www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas/law/la...

You haven’t left the labour movement. The Labour Party left you. Starmer and Kendall’s game playing with PIP and the lives of disabled people has never made this more clear. Join the Greens before 31st July. Have your say on real change. join.greenparty.org.uk

"Free marketers need an answer to the Thames Water dilemma because people are angry as hell" They have no answer because there is no market in water That's why public services, natural monopolies, essential infrastructure should be in PUBLIC OWNERSHIP www.thetimes.com/comment/colu...

Don’t get it twisted—today’s SCOTUS ruling makes it harder for courts to fully block dangerous policies like Trump’s attack on birthright citizenship. Once again, they’re bending the law to serve him instead of defending the Constitution. It’s shameful.

Supreme Court? More like 'We rubber stamp ANYTHING man."

Lander: "It's just gross, racist bigotry. Meanwhile he's running an optimistic, upbeat campaign for a NY where everybody belongs, and I feel proud as the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in NYC to be supporting somebody who would be the first Muslim mayor—what could be more NYC than that?"

Reminder as Jeff Bezos gets married in Venice today which he has rented for his personal use That Amazon illegally prevents Unionisation of its workers in almost every country it operates in And because of that Jeff pays himself nearly as much as he pays all 1.5m of his workers

Everybody should shop at Co-op. #BoycottIsrael

#RIP - magnificent tune!

Israeli strike targeting Palestinian police distributing aid in Gaza kills 18, say medical officials

The government has announced a two-tier benefits system. Under its plans, you can keep your benefits if you are disabled now, but not if you become disabled tomorrow. How is that fair? A reminder: The Independent Alliance stands by its own amendment, and we will not back down.

Labour are playing parliamentary games at the cost of disabled peoples’ lives. This compromise is just that. It’s making a deadly policy only slightly less deadly. Disabled people deserve support, not austerity.

Nadia Whittome making the point that social security spending as a percentage of GDP hasn't significantly increased for years. But this doesn't fit the narrative of out of control welfare spending so benefits need to be slashed, does it?

I don't want to hear "we can't afford it" one more time from Labour. Not while they continue to reinforce their Brexit red lines. The amount of money being left on the table by not seeking to rejoin the EU is eye-watering. The tax lost to Brexit would have paid for everything Labour needed.

It is remarkable that the west is committing to spending 5% of GDP on defence, and almost no one has made the case that the most pressing threat to our security this century is climate change and we should be spending more on tackling that.

The Govester doing a podcast? Fuck me sideways never saw that one coming! #FFS

An Israeli military drone fired a missile at Palestinians walking down the street, killing at least 8 people. And while Israel murders people in the street what's our govt doing? Its supporting & arming Israel.

From Patrick Maguire's Times column, in which a 'cabinet source' calls Labour MPs who rebelled 'stupid pricks' & a Downing St insider says they're 'deeply unserious' people. Basic legal rights for children with Special Needs & (oh, look) Disabilities is indeed the likely next fight

Starmer's concessions, then. Imagine 2 disabled ppl with similar PIP scores. One receives PIP, the other is about to apply. The first is now spared the worst to save the PM's skin. The other will still be immiserated. And note: there are more of the latter (430,000 by 2030) than the former (370,000)

The Green Party has its first ever councillor in Greenwich after Tamasin Rhymes won the Shooters Hill by-election. The result is the biggest upset in Greenwich politics for a generation and follows a row over the Labour council's land sales in the ward.

If the disability cuts were cruel and callous for existing claimants, they’re cruel and callous for future claimants too. This 2 tier system would be totally unacceptable - Labour rebels must stay firm

Never forget that while this government is prepared to ruin the lives of disabled people for the sake of £5bn, it is simultaneously lavishing far greater sums on pointless and destructive white elephants, of which this is just one.

Starmer offers ‘massive concessions’ on welfare bill to Labour rebels. Not so massive. Disability benefits will still be cut. New claimants will be hit hard. Consultation after the Bill is passed - So why not delay the bill. Shambolic. Tell your MP to vote against.

‘We just want to stop people being murdered’: Kneecap on Palestine, protest and provocation

The political weather really is shifting for the Greens in London. Another by election win - this time in Greenwich.

Kneecap is not the story. Genocide in Gaza is.
