Natural gas generation though…it’s producing just 1,529 MW. Behind-the-meter solar eating gas’s brunch today.

Looks like the Easter Sunday, April 20 record will continue to stand. Today’s behind-the-meter solar production appears to be on a par with April 20th, but actual load did not drop as low as had been forecasted. Now, enough of this—get back to the Moms you all!

This ME-NB dynamic seems to be occurring more frequently lately. Not sure if its merely seasonal and I never noticed it before, or if some underlying factor has changed.

And here’s the official word on new record low electricity demand in New England notched this past Easter Sunday. All-time record low now = 5,318 MW. isonewswire.com/2025/04/22/n...

Well said! Here's a quick illustration of why the huge wave of new CCS-enabled gas power stations & blue hydrogen plants that the UK Gov plans to subsidise with our money will be roughly 𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗹 for the climate.

This little bit is buried: capex in "AI" is 20% higher than capex in THE ENTIRE POWER SECTOR OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Unbelievably, there’s a sincere attempt by the Kraft camp to paint Mayor Wu as the carpetbagger. Wu was elected to the Boston City Council in 2013. Kraft became a Boston resident in Oct. 2023, when an LLC w/a Gillette Stadium address bought the $2.35M North End condo he lives in.

Assume you’ll be toeing up to the Start line in Hopkinton tomorrow morning, Ari. Enjoy the run!

gridstatus.io is reporting the load the ISO-NE is serving with dispatchble load. Total load is that number plus then current behind-the-meter solar production.

Record broken by 9:45 am.

Great question. It’s about to fall below nuclear.

Yes, as stated in the ISONewswire linked above. These records are set during shoulder months on the weekend when demand is lowest. If one of those weekend days is sunny then customer-owned, behind-the-meter solar displaces generating resources, like gas, that ISO-New England must dispatch.

Demand at 9:35 am is 11,315 MW. FF generation (gas, wood, refuse, landfill gas) is serving 2,747 MW of the load. New England currently being powered by ~ 76% clean generating resources.

Not sure those in non-OSW industries need to worry—provided they toe whatever line DJT may draw/redraw, or satisfy whatever demand he may make. OSW serves to illustrate the consequences of failing to conform.

Millstone is refueling. It should be back in operation ~ May 10. Seabrook refueled last October and is currently operating at 100%.
