So you believe in nothing and everything is fucked no matter what, so Vote Blue Anywho. Got it. See you in hell!

It doesn’t matter! The media can be 100% biased and the GOP can be full-blown fascists, but it doesn’t change the fact that Democrats need to choose how to respond effectively and ensure incompetence is addressed. But they don’t have to with people like you willing to put their heads in the sand.

This is such a lame deflection. You can’t control a party you’re not a member of! This is about internal party accountability for a specific failure, not a free-for-all about any political grievances.
Liberals love complaining about “whataboutism” but it’s amazing how quickly they reach for it.

That’s nonsense. There is almost total consensus that Democrats and their consultants are responsible for the 2024 disaster. There needs to be consequences for these people to prevent them from doing further damage, but it’s crazy how little interest there is in accountability, even on “the left.”

Weird take. I don’t know how you could get to the “throwing them out of DC” stage of political reckoning without the “annoying reporting” stage of the process.

I’m genuinely confused how this massive scandal of Democratic Party leadership failure has become “old news” for the savvy commentariat.
The people implicated in the electoral disaster are still highly relevant and keen on either retaining power or resuscitating their influential advisory careers.

Great post, Aaron! I also love avoiding uncomfortable and inconvenient discourse around political accountability and protecting poor party leadership!

I’m not “erasing” anybody. Save your low resolution Harris campaign Facebook memes for somebody more gullible.
comment in response to

Yes, that’s the problem, Maggy. You think it’s your job to “defend” an incompetent party instead of demand reform and accountability.
comment in response to

Don’t patronize me with your passive-aggressive insincerity or pretend that this is about an old man with cancer.
Biden was only pushed out after years of DNC inaction and cynical accusations of ageism. Your lack of interest in political accountability is something I hope we can recover from.
comment in response to
post
This has nothing to do with Biden and everything to do with his retinue of enablers and the party leadership complicit in the concealment and inaction around his decline.
These people should be ejected from politics, but you and the rest of Blue MAGA are actively protecting them.
comment in response to

I can’t put into words how nauseating it is watching the snide Blue MAGA sneer-fest in these comments.
Like Red MAGA, the mere idea of accountability for political malpractice by party leadership is eclipsed by your selective contempt for “the media” and “disloyal” elements within the party.

So true, bestie. I’m sorry I wasted your time when you could be snark posting and playing wordle.

That’s a very stupid and literal reading of the word “compliance.” They are complying with the conservative desire to purge academia of any ideology remotely left of center.
comment in response to

lol. Is claiming that strangers “have no purpose in life” how you “stay hopeful” and fight “cynicism,” Kevin? Or did you flee from that fight too?
comment in response to

May you live forever.
comment in response to

Never said that. Use your noodle, Kevin.

Social sciences are not physical sciences and you shouldn’t let people convince you otherwise about their predictive power. Especially not Yale professors hawking books.
comment in response to

And I respectfully disagree! The lack of social accountability and moral discipline within the left is a major cause of our repeated failures.
comment in response to
post
Fair enough, friend! I’d just hate to see people like you go. We need decent people to resist this conservative social movement.
comment in response to
post
You sound very susceptible to appeals to authority.
comment in response to
post
That’s not what’s at stake. Academic faculty wield social and institutional power at their schools. What they write is irrelevant, much to the chagrin of other intellectuals who conceitedly believe in the power of their pen.
comment in response to

What is puzzling about my contempt for performative emigration done by self-referencing “experts” who can’t articulate a single “threat” to their lives or livelihood? They are abandoning privileged institutional positions and tacitly encouraging other elites to do the same in a race to the bottom.
comment in response to

I just do not see this line you are drawing from “writing about dictators” to “Trump feeling seen and executing American citizens.” He doesn’t see himself as a “dictator” and he isn’t threatened by books.
The US will degenerate into an authoritarian state, but not in this cliched, overt manner.
comment in response to

“Fleeing” comes in many forms. I believe in you to find a way.
comment in response to
post
I will! You have fun cosplaying as a revolutionary until you see your own shadow and run.
comment in response to

I guess the “Trans Lib or death” in your bio should say “Trans Lib or I flee if there is a whiff of risk.”
comment in response to

Don’t ever leave your house if you are this scared of concocted hypotheticals.
comment in response to

Hey, I found this picture of you from today.
comment in response to

What? I’m not some nihilist — you’re the one arguing for abandoning principles.
Get your shit together and start fighting people who are abdicating their responsibility. You are embarrassing yourself.
comment in response to
post
Respectfully, I genuinely want to know why. What do you disagree with specifically?
comment in response to
post
Lucille, I’m well aware that conservatives are the enemy. You fail to understand that fleeing from them only strengthens them.
comment in response to
post
They are not political threats to conservatives in the slightest. Very few powerful conservatives self-identify as “fascist” or are in any way worried about humanities professors writing books that barely anyone reads.
There is a reason why the Trump admin is targeting activists and organizers.
comment in response to
post
Einstein was a celebrity theoretical physicist with obvious value to military research and development in a nascent, competitive field.
Humanities professors who write books that sit unread on shelves and give seminar talks aren’t comparable in the slightest bit.
comment in response to
post
What “experts?” And they can’t cite themselves.
What threats are these three men personally facing that can possibly excuse their blatantly hypocritical, anti-social cowardice?
comment in response to
post
Yikes, you’re a very naive, anti-social Blue MAGA fascist to think suffering is isolatable to people who deserve it. Not to mention stupid to think anyone on the right is getting the jackboot placed on their neck.
comment in response to
post
It is cowardice when there is no tangible or credible threat.
The 3 Yalies aren’t even active in the two biggest targets for retaliation: immigration or Gaza. It’s insane that they are being applauded for leaving institutions undefended to further capture by repressive and reactionary forces.
comment in response to
post
This is a cute historical conceit, but once again, you are confusing 2025 for 1935. These Yale humanities professors aren’t doing anything comparable in organization or substance to the intellectuals of the early 20th century.
comment in response to
post
That’s a weird false binary, chief.
comment in response to
post
LOL. So you have no idea what you’re arguing arguing about.
You seem like a massive coward that doesn’t expect anything from people in the hope that they never expect anything from you. If you want to run and be a spineless emigre, go for it.
comment in response to
post
What? I’m asking you to articulate the threat they personally face and you keep dodging. This is pathetic and tiresome.
comment in response to

I’m hoping for Americans to grow a fucking backbone and resist, especially those in comfortable positions of social and cultural power under no real threat. You’re the coward cheering for cowards to do cowardly things.
comment in response to
post
I know all I need to know about you. You’re a coward cheering cowards.
comment in response to

Jesus Christ. For the last time: sheltered, wealthy, white academic US citizens aren’t being sent to camps. If you are this scared of hypotheticals, then don’t get out of bed in the morning, coward.
comment in response to
post
Oh— so like all libs, now you’re fighting imaginary opponents in your head who you think voted the wrong way a decade ago. So brave!
comment in response to
post
Hahahaha— you’re literally the one defending the guys fleeing! You can’t keep your cowardly shit straight. lmao
comment in response to

Yes— I’m the dipshit because I see a yawning chasm between Syrian refugees and a tenured Yale professor. Give me a fucking break. *jerk off motion*
comment in response to

No. But you’re free to run anwyays, coward. That seems to be your favorite thing to do.
comment in response to

Typical lib. “Fuck you, I got mine and I don’t owe you anything.” You’re an avatar for the moral rot at the core of the Democratic Party.
Go ahead and remove that “antifascist” conceit from your bio, coward.
