Disability-based historian. I defended my dissertation and now I'm not sure what to do with myself. I guess publish it. Ask me about my dogs.

I'm considering a bunch of videos with quizzes, can't submit assignments without getting 100% on each quiz.

The best year of teaching I ever had I had two meetings with students over the term, but that does not scale up. Last year I taught 259 students.

I'm so sorry you had such a weird interaction and also my brain has flamed out trying to understand.

Any day now MOOCs will save us. That's why the universities pushed so hard to go back to in-person, because online classes were effective in engaging those digital natives. 🙃🙃🙃

Not my argument! Just what the article suggests.

It's basically "is it okay to destroy people's lives if I feel bad while doing it? Yes? Thanks!" Because they're not going to give that money to charity.

It's fine as long as you give the money to charity.

It's not the decision about being asleep or awake, but A Decision. World peace. Third dog. Wealth. Universal basic income. Ice cream. Plane tickets. Pony?

I've never noticed it's the same photo but to be fair I only notice the titles of your videos anyway. I'm sorry people are being weird.

I'm sure someone knows exactly where people are when they post unhinged tweets.

I am so sorry. That's really awful. You deserved better than that.

I'm going to buy this book and it's your fault.

My radical idea that students deserve better than water fountains that aren't maintained and a library that leaks when it rains.

My mom : I just don't understand why no one will hire you! You're so good at teaching!
I don't know, mom, maybe it's because York has people whose job it is to monitor the social media of outspoken union members and report them to HR so their posts can be used to claim the union is too radical!!

But those English students sure are paying that tuition, especially the international ones.

Students deserve small classes, engaged educators who want to be there, & the support staff like librarians, archivists, writing tutors, EFL help, & counsellors. Instead they get VPs with their inflated salaries and a new campus in Markham. The toilets don't work properly in the English department.

And I have a strong union at this job!! I can't tell you how much worse it is at the damned colleges where you don't get union until you're teaching a certain number of students so they make sure you don't. It's $23 an hour! I HAVE to have a PhD for that job!

I'm important enough that I was told I had to teach in person while TT faculty stayed home in 2021 but I'm also not worth job security because we're pivoting to massive online courses.

I'm sorry, I'm literally an award-winning scholar and educator but somehow also not worth the $$ I'm paid to get phone calls at home asking me to emergency teach classes 9 days into term (and also make up the syllabus because the TT faculty member didn't do that before not showing up to teach).
