I’ve got one plum rootstock. Was hoping to graft a nice little cherry plum to it. Have lost access to the cherry plum tree now 😫
Also got an apple rootstock as our plot neighbour has a really tasty apple tree and was hoping to propagate our own tree using scions from his tree…

I’m not sure whether my plum bud grafts from last year have taken or not yet. Nothing much doing on them, although they look like they’re fused onto the rootstock.
I need to try again with scions on my apple rootstock but that’s not looking very alive!

Oh is that what they’re called? I think we’ve got some in our garden

Not sure if you can get some that you can harvest in the same year now?

My parents’ council are moving to 3-weekly collections and getting an extra bin. How you’re supposed to remember the cycle on that, I don’t know. I struggle with alternate weeks sometimes!

It really is! I must list some more as I’ve got 40 years of quilt making under my belt!

Yeah I’m going to remove the grafting tape soon to see if any of them have taken

I tried grafting a couple of trees last year. My scions didn’t take so I’ve tried a couple of bud grafts over the winter but I suspect they haven’t taken either 😏

We just wandered around hopping on and off the water taxis. Alas too long ago for any specific suggestions other than going on a boat trip around the islands

I can’t decide where I want to post stuff anymore. I use this app for keeping up to date with news and sports which is lacking on Threads. Fallen out of love with Instagram. I only have the time to look at Stories on there. FB for specialty groups. So I guess I lurk on here

I made some last year so think I’ve got couple of jars left still. Likewise, it’s only me that eats it

There’s a crowdfunder for his funeral. His passing was so unexpected, he’d made no funeral plans. The link to it is on his Bluesky account

Ditto. Except I’ve been at home today and already moved her over to make room for me…

My parents have started getting one quite regularly in their garden in North Herts, so not that far from where you are

My parents have one that goes into the garage to pinch the bird food before my dad has had the chance to put it out in the feeders lol

You’d think people would know better by now not to rotovate with perennials like that about 🙄

Yeah you had the double whammy of clay and horsetail 😫
And having to wait for the archeological work to be completed must have been frustrating too

That’s some tale. As well as being one for perseverance

I think one plot holder tries a cage type protection. Another an electric fence connected to a battery, or so rumour had it.
We may have to resort to growing carrots at home

Did that work?

Awesome. We had ours covered with mesh when we last grew them on that plot. They just scraped it off and cleared a whole row overnight

Darn it!
We can’t grow carrots on one of our plots as the resident badgers developed a taste for them as well as the sweetcorn 😫
