I’d guess there’s the option to play Bruno there in the 10s if mbeumo doesn’t sign. But get the impression Amorim wants runners/dribblers in that position. I definitely think Hojlund would be better off without Garnacho as one of the 10s. However he’s massively underwhelmed me so far. Looks too much

Would bite your hand off for Watkins, villa in a bit of bother financially might mean it’s doable. Not so sure on the other two, think fees would be too high.

That they have added much more goal threat with cunha and mbeumo🤞 that the need for an out an out 9 is lessened, with zirkzee, a player like ekitike can come into the attack without the burden Hojlund had. It may even be Hojlund they persist with due to the market.

If we could do a sensible deal for prem proven experience I’d be up for it. But I’m really not sure who that is, think palace will want silly money, as would Brentford for a wissa. Beyond that there isn’t a lot, wood from forest but that’s right at top end of age profile. They might take the view …

He was bang average mate. Gave his best and won’t slate him for that, but he was nowhere near the level some fans claimed.

Not advocating £85m on ekitike at all, however if the deal is a lot smarter, around £60m with clauses and add ons, if he isn’t good enough after 2 years you’ve got a 24yo with maybe £35m needed to clear PSR cost. So I can see the attraction albeit scarred form Hojlund/kolo muani type deals
comment in response to

Problem is that they still cost you +£50m. And in 2 years time if they haven’t lived up to billing. You can’t shift them, high wages. High amortisation left. Nobody will pay. Palace will rinse us for mateta for example. PSR really affecting the higher age bracket market in terms of willing risk.

no glory in playing champions league football for spurs mate, absolutely guaranteed to be one season in it, and almost as guaranteed that the exit is one of the first available. I’d love mbeumo at United, still confident it happens, but if he chooses spurs for the reasons above he ain’t the guy

Okay, I’ve watched 10 mins of him now on YouTube and he might be the best player I’ve ever seen. Pay £160m

That’s the reported money they want, long term deal, Frankfurt only paid peanuts for him last year from
PSG, and he’s hardly broken records in the bundesliga, 15 goals, timo
Werner got about 800 in that league, as did Jadon Sancho. Weighs about 60lb wet through with boots on. Swerve.

£80m we should be running for the hills mate

If they’d signed osimhen they’d be on the warpath saying “how can they give out that contract, heard he’s trouble, come from Turkish league” etc. etc. They would have criticised the Delap signing too. Genuinely believe most of them have a vested interest in our mediocrity.
comment in response to
post
Of course he doesn’t. He’s a helmet. I’m sure I’ve heard him say osimhen to United before, but at £70m and probably £400k+ a week it’s not feasible for United to sign him. Gyokeres isn’t cheap but his wages won’t be in that arena at all.

Because those two clubs bend the rules. Have loads and loads of cash reserves. Huge problem we have even though we can work with quite good PSR head room, our cash is fuck all. So it makes it hard to work on multiple deals and negotiate harder initial payments. Cunha deal cost more up front etc
comment in response to
post
I see Zirkzee offering a point of difference, I feel Hojlund would do the same as Gyokeres but worse. I realise we’d be banking on him hitting the ground running, but same for any striker signing. That front three if Mbeumo joins as should be more than capable of rotating throughout 90 mins.
comment in response to
post
I’d take a loan if we were financially able to accept that and still strengthen. But I wouldn’t keep him as back up for a season if we got Gyokeres I don’t think. Bar a serious injury he wouldn’t get a sniff.

Don’t disagree, where I disagree is that it’s not all on the club. He’s a professional and sometimes it just doesn’t work, lots to be learned from failure, Forlan a prime example. Shit happens. Think football clubs owe players a move when it doesn’t work. He’s been given ample chances.

Generally, we’ve had an awful record of keeping players far too long, endless list of people we should’ve got rid of sooner. Getting rid of Hojlund at 23/4 to champions league finalists gives him a much better chance of salvaging his career than holding onto him til he’s 28 and going to AEK Athens
comment in response to
post
I don’t think he’s lazy in terms of walking about but his pressing ability is really poor,he makes awful decisions in the box, rarely gets across his man, doesn’t win headers or duels. Being goal shy and missing chances is one thing. But it’s not United’s fault he can’t navigate a game a bit better
comment in response to

Some players just aren’t good enough or timing doesn’t work out for them, he felt he was ready for it and he’s been a shown not to be. If he stays and we recruit what we need above him then I’ve no major issue but I personally think season without Europe. It will harm him more than help him.
comment in response to
post
Don’t think we’ve ruined his career at all, he’s likely to go to inter Milan? A massive club. There’s fault on the club side of things, but there’s also fault on the player. Forlan worked under experienced pros and was shit for majority but tried hard, didn’t work and moved on. The fee was awful

2 years and you’re out in my eyes. He’s not had the ideal circumstances I’ll give him that. But this season has been utterly abysmal from him. Even in terms of effort and pressing it’s been appalling. There’s only so much you can empathise before you say you’ve got to do better than you did.

Im torn on him. One hand I think he’s a nutter who’s got a mistake in him and might be overrated. On the other, his confidence almost unmatched and the odd mistake doesn’t phase him the way it seems to phase Onana when one mistake turns into 8. Martinez definitely got the ego to be a United no.1
comment in response to

If he can even show a third of his aptitude for onion baggery over here it would be a roaring success. Entirely different league and pressure but someone who’s got 97 in 102 surely has a bit about him.
comment in response to

They signed him as a fucking 8 😂 where he’s basically never shown any real capability. Paid £60m for him in the last year of his deal, and then gave him 250k a week. Batshit.

It’s always the structure. Bought players who are uniquely tied to a manager. Something that’s being accused of United with Amorim at the moment with 3421. However, if you sign cunha, mbeumo, and a Gyokeres for example. Those players are perfectly adaptable for another system and another manager.

Technique and ability wise he can work in lots of systems/formations. Problem is he’s an absolute fanny, slow, weak and afraid of any ounce of graft. 🗑️

Just didn’t feel like there were many drawn out sagas, Yoro kind of came out of nowhere and zirkzee was through the door fairly quickly from memory. Sensible fees for maz and de ligt, feels at least like there’s “some” progress in that department

It does. Long overdue, things have definitely moved faster under ineos in the transfer windows, I’ll give them that as a positive so far. Maybe shouldn’t speak to soon until mbuemo is announced 😂

Yeah my thoughts too tbf. If he’s going/gone it’s the right way to go about it given everyone pulls your pants down when you’ve got the Bruno money. A proper striker and a proper controller in midfield and I’ll feel a little better about Bruno going. But 2 big positions to recruit well.
