You're right Pete. Congress has determined it, and they've determined that the military can't be used for domestic law enforcement. The judges are just applying that law.

NEW: US SecDef Pete Hegseth stated on June 10 that the US intends to reduce its budget for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine in 2026. Reducing US military aid to Ukraine will neither lead to a sustainable peace in Ukraine nor compel Putin to reassess his theory of victory. isw.pub/UkrWar061125

Disturbing as hell. But not surprising.

The U.S. is cutting military aid to Ukraine, leaving innocent Ukrainians to die as Russia launches indiscriminate attacks on civilian populations. Hear from Evgeny of Odesa about the daily horrors of Russia's war. Ken Harbaugh and VALOR report from Ukraine:

“With his army” And this isn’t just some slip up. Dude actually emphasizes the word “his”.

look who learned what 86 means

Sources said that even at the start of his second term, Trump was discussing with multiple advisers where & when it would make sense to send in federal troops, either for supposed crime control or in response to larger-scale public activism against his agenda. 🔗 www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Can you imagine a single American President before Trump saying this? I can't. Not even the worst of them.

The entire country should be shocked by such blatant corruption. Regardless of left or right.

I'd add that military veterans, in particular, need to talk about why this is a problem and how soldiers need to behave under these circumstances.

There's a lot to unpack here. But the "why do people in the developed world die from chronic diseases at higher rates than in poorer countries" is because we survive long enough to die from chronic rather than infectious disease. This is epidemiology 101. It's not a mystery.

In case you're wondering, authoritarians use this strategy of escalation to manufacture crisis, provoke outrage, then use the reaction to justify repression. It’s not about restoring order, it's about creating a spectacle of chaos they can claim only they can control.

Do we have any prior examples of active duty military being deployed to stop protests? I’ll qualify it by saying from the end of Reconstruction to present.

I try to cross-post almost everything but I've gotten lazy because no one sees anything there. RN's reach took a huge hit the day Elon changed the algo but my personal acct had a respectable reach on theatre, etc. & it in the past 3-4 months especially it's just shriveled.

It would be so great if Democratic elected officials started acting as if the president was trying to arrest them all, because he is.

Yes, I have not spent any significant time studying how successful anti-fascist movements work. Do you have anyone you could recommend on the topic? Maybe a historian who’s written about it?

I’m sorry but this is a damning indictment of the American people www.cbsnews.com/news/deporta...

I'm not really too hung up on whether the protests are peaceful or not. If armed masked men came into my neighborhood and started grabbing people off to where neither courts nor lawyers can find them, I might react pretty violently too. It's the kind of thing our Founders fought a revolution over.

I will say this, I hold @abcnewsbot.bsky.social & @terrymoranabc.bsky.social to a much higher standard than the propaganda folks who populate 'news' on FOX, Newsmax etc That said, and the same time, Moran is 🎯🎯🎯

Many of our Afghanistan vets are ALIVE because of these people. They risked everything to help the US Military. And THIS is how we treat them?

Every time Trump "fires" someone, the narrative is that they were completely worthless and unqualified from the start. If that's true, why does he keep hiring such people?

@jvl.bsky.social if a US based government contractor threatens to withhold critical military equipment to the US, I am thinking any administration would be talking nationalizing the company
