As I just posted too. He needs to be shipped out.

Just posted that too. He's cost his team mates badly. Needs to go.

Yes. There was good music being made throughout the mid/late 70s as well as some godawful rubbish IMHO.

There are some diamonds amongst the dross, indeed😁

Yes, me too. It was stylistically very different to other music on the radio at the time, melodic, jazzy, lots of harmonies. Not just punk (obviously) but your everyday charting pop as well. So it really stood out.

I just checked and I remember the album cover, but none of the other tracks on it.

It got played a lot on Capital Radio down here. It was very different and I went out and bought it. It's somewhere up in the loft.

I can't remember, but if my Dad was watching without Mum, it was probably during Tonight on BBC1 with Cliff Michelmore. Mum would have had Take You Pick on😊

It' s the first news event I can remember - I was 6 years old. I was at home in Surrey with my Dad, who was watching TV while we waited for Mum to come home from shopping. I remember the newsflash interrupting the show and Dad being shocked. I was unsettled by it, and later by how adults reacted.

We've put it on mute. It's an embarrassment. These players should be resting before pre-season...

Surf's Up is mostly great. I usually pass on A Day In The Life Of A Tree though. 'Til I Die is Brian's lost treasure in my opinion. Bruce Johnston's Disney Girls 1957 has been my guilty pleasure since 1971😍 Soppy nostalgia but lovely.

The '73 double live album is great. They grew beards, ditched the suits and turned into a rock band. Mostly without Brian at that point.

The backing tracks he recorded and produced are incredible. Multi layered with melodies and counterpoints. Instruments like vibes, bass harmonica, baritone sax, detuned pianos, double bass. There are loads of examples all over YouTube from the expanded box sets. And six part vocal harmonies on top😳

It's a close run thing for me with them and The Beatles. I've loved them both since I was a kid. Like the Fabs they evolved from a live band into a studio band over the course of three of four albums. The real difference is that the BBs are essentially a vocal group. The podcast is worth a listen.

😂 Indeed. And it's still going. They've only reached 1972 so far😬

If you love Brian and the band it's worth listening from the beginning, but it's a big commitment😳

It's worth listening to the Sail On podcast when you have a few hours (days?), particularly the episodes on Pet Sounds and Smile. They dissect the backing tracks and explain how he put it all together. open.spotify.com/episode/45fV...

I played so many of his songs on the way down the Pacific Coast Highway when we visited. The sound of Southern California. The man was a genius.

2/ I've chosen this as a fitting tribute. One of his solo recording, but it tells it all so well www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3ta...

I'm a big fan of the original books set in Copenhagen. Not sure if I can cope with the change of location though. They moved something else I liked as a book to the US and I couldn't cope😳

If you want to know how it works and all the options, it's all clearly explained here... www.seat61.com/how-to-use-a...

Costs on top of that... additional Eurostar fare (in and out) of £40 each. Seat reservations (not essential but gives peace of mind) around 6 euros per person per journey. And obvs food/drink and accommodation. We used a combination of hotels and Air BnBs.

First, we got ours in the twice yearly sale at 25% off the already reduced Senior (60+) rate. Second, we had 1st class passes to take advantage of extra leg room, comfort etc. 3rd, we chose the "7 travel days in one calendar month" option. That isn't 7 consecutive days btw. Cost = 349 Euros each

Indeed. Reminiscent of Alan Aldridge's Beatles Illustrated Lyrics, which I have somwehere.

They love that football club and hate Sevilla FC as much as we hate Tottenham. Had several beers with them before and after CWC game in 97. They will be absolutely gutted.
