Good news. Many years ago, I taught mathematics to O-level in adult education centres. It pleased me that I had helped to give a second chance to people who had missed out for one reason or another. I am a passionate believer in second chances. Bravo, Derbyshire CC!

Unfortunately I am beginning to see indications that some X-iles are bringing some of their aggression and bad taste with them. I hope that I am proved to be wrong!

As a former organic chemist, this made me think of Markovnikov’s rule or Matt 25:29 - to him that hath shall more be given; but for him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken away.
Thanks for the memory!

You are another person I shall follow from Twitter (X). I enjoy your TV programmes. This looks like a friendly environment. Since I am a big believer in consensus and cooperation, it should suit me fine. Best wishes for the future. I look forward to seeing your output.

I was hoping you would be. This looks a friendly respectful environment. I am a big fan of your many science programmes on BBC FOUR, The Life Scientific on Radio 4 and other works. I intend to follow you. I shall give you no grief. Best wishes.

I used to follow you on X, listened to your curious cases with Hannah Fry and have your dual book The Future of Life - flipside to The Origin of Life.
This looks like a kinder, more respectful environment; it's worth a shot.
I am passionate about how the study of science can enrich our lives. Cheers
