Keeping Americans out of Canada since 1814. I told you you'd miss John Quincy Adams when he was gone but you just didn't listen.

That absolutely looks like an average piece of furniture that could be in any household in Iowa. Bring him home and set him free at a resale shop where he would be fought over, if necessary.

NBA talk is for GOTV. NFL and College Basketball is for the swing voters.

Its really a Daley machine cargo cult. Entire Vallas campaign consisted of old Daley hacks doing exactly what they did in the 90s, shouting down anyone who said they update priors, trying to summon back the old magic and a resoration, which they KNOW is coming, because they are the natural order.

Exactly. The old establishment has an attitude of (and you can see it in the Trib/Crain's every day) we opposed you and you affronted us by winning decisively and yet somehow you haven't come crawling back to do whatever we want, how vile (and confusing).

Constant anti-Johnson drumbeat from a media and business elite that hysterically opposed him in the first place. He hasn't really done anything that could upset anyone, because he has made no real changes. He doesn't have the smoothest relationship with city council members in the anti-Johnson bloc.

Johnson has basically done nothing good OR bad. No big changes. Slim governing majority that deserts him any time he tries to do anything besides pass a (largely status quo) budget. Record hotel revenues last year, office vacancy down. The argument appears to be he's destroyed Chicago by existing.

This is why no one ever just put a COLA on the minimum wage. That was the exact thinking of previous Dem congresses.

He's declaring himself Chicken Luther King and that with your tweets you are blocking the school entrance eating a box of Chicken Fries and thinks this is a sick burn on YOU. Solid BlueSky work by all.

The key is to actually give a fuck and use your stunts to try to stop these policies for real. You re not formulaic and stale unless you’re formulaic and stale.

That implies that they are on our side and that eventually, if they could just get past their concerns that everyone is doing it wrong, they would finally be against what Trump is doing.

That's only true if you look at the House vote. Dems WON the Senate and Governor vote in 2022 (aka everything at the top of the ticket). They did worse top of the ticket in 2024 than 2022, in Senate, Governor and local races as well as president.

Dems have been complaining for decades about poisoned information environments (finger on the scale in elections) in towns with a conservative newspaper, then towns with a Sinclair station/where the diner puts on Fox News. But ask them to think systematically about that and apparently its unserious.

If you're saying that voters couldn't get around to backlashing on inflation in 22' when it was there because they were busy backlashing on abortion...yeah, that's the theory.

306 EV and a 5 point victory is pretty landslide-y for this political era, nearly as many EV as Obama 2012 and better than Republicans had done in more than 30 years.

It is not the job of a good message to say what is popular. It is the job of a good message to make popular what we need said.

You don’t get to choose! Whining that what your opponent wants to talk about is a distraction from what you want to talk about instead of doing something about it just shows weakness!

The consensus Business Elite view in major cities is that Republicans are crazy but that doesn’t change the fact that Democrats are icky.

Klein can pretend to be shocked, shocked, that there is gambling in the casino but we don't have to believe him.

Klein's whole schtick for years has been attacking "Everything Bagel Liberalism" aka undoing Bidenism and shutting out "The Groups." He's repeatedly interviewed Crypto co-conspirator David Shor on his podcast to pretend his mouth farts make sense (when are we getting those 60 R senators?).

The LAST thing you want when whipping votes for a difficult budget bill is chaos. It gives members an out to disappear. You want discipline and order and everyone marching forward. Unless they draw blood, your opponents’ whining you are passing your stated agenda ain’t that chaos.
comment in response to

Probably not going to flee, but it’s the only way to try to blow things up. There are ways to run a strong campaign against this budget but “HOnOR ThE KiTCHEN TaBLE” ain’t it.
comment in response to

Chaos and bad media/vibes is what blows up something like this. You can do it by weakly complaining about Medicare cuts and hoping it hits or the rats can flee when they see mom and dad are fighting and distracted and there is no one to keep them in line or protect them from their disgusting voted.

But do *Senate Dems* think this is real and consequential or is this the next play to shut down opposition to Trump after telling people to stop talking about Abrego Garcia? What have they done to shut down things like this besides…pass Trump’s CR?

And Republicans have been getting slaughtered in elections in Iowa this year.

And they matter when someone might be receptive to hearing them and having them organize their perceptions. IN/MO-Sen gaffes would fall flat now. The environment today is 7-8 points more Dem than when she beat a mediocre candidate by 6 points. Rs have been collapsing in elections across Eastern IA.

You don't think "No charges of embezzlement or financial misconduct were ever filed against Joni Ernst or her father" isn't a banger of a campaign slogan?

Danville Kankakee and Rantoul themselves are all purple to blue and their primary electorates are heavily AA. That’s why they are in the district. Kankakee has recently lost a Kankakee-based Dem rep and the african American Dem mayor lost re-election.
