Yep. First thing you do is multiply the initial number by 9, and the digits of any number divisible by 9 add up to 9, so when you take 5 away, you're always left with 4.

Librarians are often called upon to make up the numbers :) Fond memories of a talk I gave a couple of years ago to an audience of two people I knew, plus one of their kids and their baby, plus the librarian. The baby needed feeding halfway through, so the numbers actually went down in real time.
