Come on, guys. This is my best gag for weeks.

One of publishing's greatest failures is having Rev Richard Coles write a series of clerical murder mysteries and not calling it The Crockford Files.

Happy Daniel Hannon Day to all who celebrate it. I hope you all enjoy the fireworks as we mark perhaps the worst piece of political forecasting going. www.reaction.life/p/britain-lo...

I see people are posting pictures of their old posters. Well, here's a corner of my bedroom at home in the mid 70s. That wallpaper predates Father Ted's bathroom, BTW. 4-track mono Grundig also thrown in for good measure.

This is basically calling your teacher "mum"

One of the weird joys of getting old is that all (well, maybe not all, but still) the really uncool stuff you loved when you were young is somehow OK to like now. Also, Mike Oldfield was 21 when this came out.

Bloody hell, this is lovely and sad.

We now cross over to BBC Radio Derby.

Accidentally went for a meal with Paul Banks out of Interpol, basically cos my client knew his mum. Had no idea who he was.

Installing an update to my Mac and developing severe blank screen anxiety.

Anyone know anything about appealing a permanent deactivation by PayPal? For some reason they've deemed the @burnhambookfest.co.uk an unsuitable organisation and we can't receive payments for entries to our writing competition.

Every day is indeed a school day.

Decided I quite fancy being a badger. They always look like they’re enjoying themselves.

Made some scones.

Well I certainly picked a good evening to go out, didn’t I?

Now playing. Needless to say, there are some serious bangers to be found here.

One day it is I guess possible that I may come across an organisation that has an AI-based support service that actually works. Today, however, is not that day. Yes, I'm looking at you, Red Hat.

Excellent thread for the Unbound/Boundless authors.

As of today, I’ll be encouraging anyone who wants to buy Why Do Birds Suddenly Disappear to get it direct from me. That way I’m sure to get the money from the sale. (UK only, I’m afraid) levparikian.com/index.php/pr...

The thing I still don't get about the Unbound fiasco is that their business model was designed to pretty much remove the risk element of publishing. If a book didn't get sufficient backing, it simply didn't get published.

Baan skimming through Kirsty MacColl's discography on Wikipedia and I hadn't realised how badly she'd been treated by her record labels and how condescending the (let's face it, pretty much all male) critics had been at the time. No-one likes a clever, witty woman, eh?

Today's earworm. Not that I'm complaining - it's bloody magnificent. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PPM...

And if you want to hear more about Adrian Mole, Beth Miller and I did it on ILBIIF too: www.jonathanpinnock.com/podcast/ (but Backlisted have probably made a better job of it, to be fair)

Kevin McCloud: “With winter fast approaching and planning permission hanging in the balance, I meet with Peregrine - who is still project managing the build himself - to ask about his decision to build an extension on the house in the shape of a massive great cargo ship.”

Exciting and practical house designs coming out of Scandinavia

Only just found out about Joe Don Baker's death. Good excuse as any to post this clip, which I think about a lot. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lY-8...

A spirited response from Michael Rosen to Keir Starmer's bigoted comment about an Island of Strangers
