Just come back from Portland OR where my son lives. He tells me all their push button crossings operate instantaneously. No problem.

As a part time cycling instructor I am constantly teaching Bikeability to children whose parents won’t let them anywhere near a road.

True. For the cost of HS2 we could have had 60,000 km of segregated cycle track. Reduce exp on roads by £3bn pa would be another 60,000km over 20 years. Next generation.
But I take the point!

We should concentrate on building cycling infrastructure for the next generation, rather than this. One way would be to mandate separated cycle infrastructure up to and from every school. Expanding it slowly outwards every year until every child within the catchment area can safely cycle to school.

Will cycle up later today to have a look… And we have our own rain garden, about to start hand digging later this month, in Brockwell Park Estate just a mile from Clapham Common. Rain Gardens Rule.

Black Mercedes of course. Mercedes drivers make up by far the largest number of third party video submissions I make to Met Police. 87 so far.

Done the survey. Told them, as a Bikeability instructor, it’s not worth doing more training without transforming the infrastructure.

Back from Ealing magistrates court, where a similar close pass was not accepted by the magistrates on the basis that they couldn’t tell whether it was close enough to constitute driving without due care. The magistracy is systemically biased against cyclists on behalf of car drivers.

At long, long last. As a 14 year-old, I cycled from Four Oaks to Cirencester in 1968. Got there in one piece but it was an uncomfortable ride through central Birmingham starting with Sutton town Centre. I’ll come back to visit the new infra when built.
