Just gonna drop this link here in case anyone would like to tune in to the live stream of the beautiful outpouring of joy that is the LA Pride parade, happening right now, amidst everything else that is going on there. abc7.com/watch/live/

It's the first office day of #pride month 2025 so I decided to dress appropriately. Thanks to @ministryoftesting.com for the t-shirt!

Fondly remembering Versuz, which is now unbelievably cursed

The Coast Linus Woods ~ Lakota, Ojibwe n.d.

So at a certain scale, money really does just do things differently. Ah well.

Could get out of this selling 2-4 high end pieces of art in their possession, perhaps

I was wondering when the “learn to code” discourse would fire up again

learn to code! learn to prompt! learn to buy into meritocracy bullshit instead of demanding dignity and a good life regardless of educational background and how wealthy you can make other people!

That's right, lads. Single mothers are snacks with snacks.

I hate when people make Vonnegut their whole personality

Quick sketch

Today is the anniversary of Alan Turing’s suicide, in 1954. Turing was the father of modern computing. His codebreaking helped the Allies to win WWII. Arrested for being gay, he chose chemical castration over a prison sentence. He lost his security clearance, as all homosexuals were deemed a risk.

Some fun facts about hockey equipment in honor of the Stanley Cup. - neck guards exist - people routinely get hit with hard rubber and feel very little - ice hockey is a popular sport in MN - roller hockey is played in LA - you might know someone who plays or used to -hockey is for everyone!

One striking thing from this (excellent) report on a DOGE employee's use of AI is that everything about it is antithetical to sound software engineering practices—an engineer hurriedly deploying an unfamiliar tool to meet an impossible deadline for a problem domain in which he has no expertise.

“is my calculator horny?“ our tech columnist asks. “i entered 5318008 into it and turned it upside down. what i saw surprised me”

A fairytale in Tuscany. Fun fact: Taken with my smartphone

A week at a luxurious yet slightly haunted resort being given hallucinogens by a regionally ambiguous sketchy white woman would fix me

I've been taking antibiotics, but also taking probiotics. Nothing's happening.

Saw a post saying Trump thinks Musk should “go back to Africa” and woo, if that’s post is real…

What started as a simple sketch idea for some Matariki decorations ended up being a bit too ornate for something I’m planning to make out of black card and glitter sharpies and not much free time lol

Honestly I'm not up on the politics of the US Executive branch so I can't comment on this

THROW BACK

“The findings offer a reminder that outsourcing our training decisions to wearable tech algorithms doesn’t always outperform simply listening to our bodies.”

very fun to read frederick douglass accurately describe the problem with the pardon power in 1867

Really not sure how the USA is going to get out of this pickle, but I guess we'll find out

There's still a genre of software developer who's mindset is "I write code, commit, and push. And that's it". This kind of developer mindset is old and busted and needs to go away. I also think these kinds of developers *love* AI tooling.

The name of this #Peony is ‘Love Affair’ and I don’t think I could have captured it in a more perfect photo. 💚😍 #gardening #bloomscrolling #FlowerReport 🌱

I think the thing that is most viscerally shocking about the AI "debate" is how many people suddenly think small mistakes are no big deal, even where precision is everything. Like a legal brief that is based on 95% real citations is almost as good as one that is based on 100% real citations
