I have recently gotten strangely into videos about straightening large truck frames after accidents. I don't even own a large truck.

Wow that is totally shocking that this is about political interference and not priorities intrinsic to the National Institutes of Health.

It's always interesting to compare the numbers to the Tea Party protests and the respective coverage of them.

It would be both thematic and hilarious if this failed parade ends up being the thing that brings Hegseth down.

If someday we find out some absolute stud of a soldier designed and planned this parade to be the most dull, boring thing ever on purpose, then I hope we all tap into our whiskey reserves to make sure he or she never goes thirsty again.

Appropriate--no cheering, only the sound of tanks rolling down the streets of Washington.

every protest I've ever been to(and I've been to a lot) was like 95% normies, don't let the cosplayers on the internet fool you, the people out there are the ones who drive change, not the ones serialposting about how wrongly they're doing it

HAPPENING NOW: A sea of protesters have gathered in Ann Arbor, Michigan for a “No Kings Day” rally against Donald Trump (Video: WXYZ-TV)

1. Let's put this together. The assassin appears to be the follower of the New Apolostolic Reformation, which holds that American society is literally under demonic possessions. (And you, dear reader, are one of the demon.) www.wired.com/story/shooti...

2 pro-Trump protestors is even more pathetic than zero. In fact, it might be the most pathetic possible number. Not one lone rando, no--someone tried to organize a group and managed to get exactly one other person

It's hard to believe we're having to defend germ theory over "miasma" and "terrain" theories in the 21st century, but here we are. www.npr.org/sections/sho...

You could tell who the out-of-town cops were by how much body armor they were wearing. The state cops looked ridiculous.

Not bad for a small college town in the middle of a summer rain

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) is implementing a 15% overhead cap for current and future grants to universities. The destruction of American science continues. www.cogr.edu/sites/defaul...

The number of people booked into immigration detention who have not previously been convicted of a crime has jumped eight-fold since President Donald Trump took office, government data shows, undercutting his anti-crime message. www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...

1. People seem upset that I associated the language in Trump’s Gold Standard Science executive order with the science reform movement, in this Guardian piece. “Trump would have attacked science anyway” Of course. But it’s not Trump that is the biggest concern. It’s the courts.

"The HHS document says that another paper it cites found 'an increase in placental blood clotting in pregnant mothers who took the vaccine.' But the paper doesn't contain any reference to placental blood clots or to pregnant women." www.npr.org/2025/06/13/n...

This ICE agent tells an immigration attorney of her three clients: "I'm not picky so I'm giving you the options cause I have to take one. If not I'll take all." He is quite literally saying that ICE is simply deporting people at random to meet a quota. www.instagram.com/reel/DKzbcQe...

Easy to find a protest near you!

File this under "Neat, but unlikely to make a clinical impact" for reasons that the authors very astutely and openly lay out--the human body is not transparent. An IR photoactivation/photorelease, maybe...but that's even more difficult than visible light. 🧪

when you want to join the fun but can't quite get down with the nomenclature (ht @davelevitan.bsky.social)

Regarding recent immigration actions and the Club World Cup.

“Tesla’s driverless ‘robotaxis’ could launch in Austin as soon as June 22. But a demo in Austin today showed a $TSLA, manually driven to test its Full Self-Driving system, failed to stop for a child-sized dummy at a school bus—and hit it.” @cbsaustin @velez_tx

There goes the little good Rubio's statement might have done distancing us from the attacks.

When the university research mission jeopardizes the real estate mission, the latter prevails.

"We can’t tell all the stories. But we can make sure no one can say they didn’t know."

House Democrats need to bring articles of impeachment against Kristi Noem, while Senate Democrats need to bring that chamber to a fucking halt.

Kristi Noem: “Nobody knew who he was” Literally, the first second of the video 👇

It’s a reminder that mindful, responsible departments and universities should be taking a seriously look at their tenure standards to make sure they don’t unduly burden marginalized faculty members during an assault on their research. Make sure you aren’t losing good people.

Every elected Republican should be asked if they think the president has the power to send in military in to “liberate” a state or city from its elected government.
