Since May: Federal district courts have ruled against Trump admin 94% of the time. Supreme Court has sided with the Trump admin 94% of the time. A judiciary at war with itself.

Powell: "People look at the incidents of tariffs during the president's first term, but those were like 1/6 the size of what people are estimating now. And they do find some effects on inflation ... there really isn't a modern precedent."

Vaccination schedules on the CDC website have already started changing under RFK Jr. So we published a guide to the evidence-based vaccine recommendations in place *before* all 17 members of the advisory panel were abruptly dismissed by the new admin. www.scientificamerican.com/article/see-... 🧪

I've been banging this drum for years now, I know, but Zohran's Big Night is a clear illustration of the power of giving people a vision of the future that boldly contradicts the rhetoric of Republican fearmongers. Not just "disagrees on policies," but actively paints a different image of the world.

A breakthrough preventive drug that offers total protection from HIV was to be rolled out across parts of Africa this year. But the Trump administration’s foreign aid cuts derailed those plans.

he's right and he's right to say it

Three years ago today, Trump's far-right Supreme Court majority ended Americans' federal right to abortion under Roe v. Wade. Since then, over 100 women have been denied emergency abortion care. Amber Nicole Thurman, 28, was one of them. Today, share her story. www.propublica.org/article/geor...

✋ Former State Department war powers lawyer here. Some problems with the Speaker's remarks: --executive branch (even under Trump 1.0) has long treated the WPR as constitutional --some of the post-WWII military actions he refers to (eg Iraq, Afghanistan) had congressional war authorizations 1/n

"Instead of asking which future is coming, we should be asking which future we want: one in which humans are replaced or only augmented?" Good piece from @superwuster.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/2025/06/24/o...

Alrighty everyone. We ALL know what to do. Here is Rep Crockett’s campaign page. www.jasmineforus.com MAKE IT RAIN!!!!!

We just had a political assassination in the United States last week. We CANNOT let this leave the news cycle and be forgotten.

Be warned: Trump will likely use his war with Iran as a pretext to further suppress dissent at home. We must resist his efforts to stifle freedom of speech, make warrantless searches and arrests of Americans, and put more military onto our streets.

Truly horrified by this order in way that is deeper and darker than I have felt over many truly awful merits decisions.

LAT posts a picture of Narciso Barranco, who was violently assaulted by ICE, with his 3 Marine sons. These are the proud Americans Stephen Miller is targeting. www.latimes.com/california/s...

No explanation. None. It’s obscene. I keep remembering the 1679 habeas corpus act. It reacted to the king arresting people & without trial deporting them. It began: “for prevention of imprisonment beyond seas.” Without explanation, our current SCOTUS majority is undoing centuries of justice.

Refugees in Kenya have died at food distribution centers, officials noted, including a pregnant woman crushed to death during a stampede. Aid workers said they expected more people to get hurt “as vulnerable households become increasingly desperate.”

NEWS: Trump says a ceasefire has been agreed to between Israel and Iran, even as Israel continues its war effort, with explosions heard across multiple cities in Iran.

It's becoming increasingly clear is that the right wing of this Supreme Court is extreme even among federal courts. The district courts and appellate courts keep appropriately halting this shit, expressing appropriate outrage, and trying to hold the line. Then SCOTUS blows it all up.

This is a horrifying ruling that shows a disdain for basic human rights principles — made all the more unconscionable by the fact that the Republican appointees did so with no reasoning and on the shadow docket.

DISASTROUS. This means they will send people to horrific situations with no due process — in direct violation of promises the Solicitor General made to the Court in previous cases. This greenlights sending people to be enslaved in Libya or tortured in any random foreign country.

The Roberts court will be considered the most shameful in American history.

I don't understand how this can be legal. I don't understand how this can be ethical.

Yes, this is valid! But also: the courts as a whole HAVE been trying to protect us. They've made stupendous rulings. But they, too, are up against SCOTUS. They've bought us five months so far, a window in which serious opposition has really begun to rise. As citizens, we now have to move faster.

So im still working so i haven't been able to pay much attention to things, but did the Supreme Court just bring back the slave trade?

Trump’s ICE Agents Are Arresting US Citizens. GOP Budget Would Hire 10,000 More.

“FLORIDA is building a detention facility nicknamed ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ on an airfield in the Everglades to help Trump with its immigration crackdown… large tents, etc. will cost around $450 million a year…” Their cruelty is big business. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/23/u...

Hard not to believe that the current moment will not completely poison many people's ability to trust the US government for a long time. No-one really believes that the masked men dishing out the kind of violence will ever face any sort of accountability.

Bombing for peace is like burning books to promote literacy.

This really is Congress eating its own institutional capacity to stifle any dissent to Trump. They accuse CBO of being Democrats, even though it is run by a Republican appointee. GAO has pointed out the illegality of impoundment. DOGE tried to take over GAO, and now House Republicans want to gut it.

Republican presidents are always dragging us into a war with the middle east. Bush Sr. -- Gulf Bush Jr. -- Iraq Bush Jr. -- Afghanistan Trump -- Iran Elections have consequences.

But by all means, continue to listen to them screech about the unfairness of DEI.

It hasnt even been a year yet and Trump has done so much damage with everything he does. Im afraid to think of what will be left of the U.S by the time his term is over.

Just a reminder that Orwell’s protagonist in 1984, Winston Groom, works as a copy editor, except that his job entails endlessly “correcting the data” so that the archival record conforms to the Party’s preferred fictions, and what is “known” becomes a principal instrument of conformity.

Trump’s attack against Iran is illegal and immoral. And any leader who tells you otherwise is lying to you.

i almost can’t read this it makes me so angry. delusional grifters with purity fetishes and eugenic worldviews have brought pain, suffering and death to children www.nytimes.com/2025/06/22/u...

Beyond parody.

1. Trump announces where he will bomb in Iran to destroy its nuclear inventory. 2. Iran moves its nuclear inventory from those locations. 3. Trump bombs those locations. 4. Trump: "Yay! Our strikes were a COMPLETE success! Mission accomplished!!!" 5. Iran rolls its eyes & jacks up US gas prices.

Trump’s plan to ban US states from AI regulation will ‘hold us back’, says Microsoft science chief

Take note.

Yes, this is yet another obvious violation of international law by the US Government. However despicable the regime in Iran, you cannot just attack another country. Bombing civilian nuclear facilities is also illegal under several nuclear treaties to which US is Party. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/ck...
