Hoooooo boy, if only more *Americans* would cotton on to this. :| Tho I think it's more "keep them stupid so they'll believe whatever preposterous garbage we tell them" and the business benefit is just a nice side effect. But honestly... it's prolly mostly just arrogance/exceptionalism.

For real, I'm AFRAID to actually go in a Buc-ee's now. Because I will buy allllll the snacks, and then I will eat them, and then I'll have to spend the entire rest of my life on a treadmill. (But anyone who *does* go in had best return with Beaver Nuggets, or else.)

I have not yet been to one, but a family member went to a Buc-ee's -- not mid-roadtrip, Buc-ee's was literally the intended destination -- and brought me back something called BEAVER NUGGETS and hfs at both the name and the snack itself. "Addictive" does not even begin.

That's *nothing*. Mine suggested literal immolation. (Obligatory "but I'm NOT a witch!")

Y'all KNOW that when you use the words "orange" and "mushroom" together to describe something, absolutely everyone's mind is going to go to the same very bigly bad place.
Just going to assume that was intentional.

No. It's a very small, very limited suit being brought (of which two or three of the original complainants have since dropped out of) based on "odd" results in a handful of precincts in one county in one state. Would love for this to be a huge deal, but sadly it likely is not.

Thanks for this. I'd LOVE to believe that the election was stolen or otherwise "invalid," but the facts presented thus far absolutely do not support this. Some odd-seeming (yet according to Snopes and the experts they cite, explainable) results in one district in one state =/= "we actually won!!1"

Same. I know it's hard if not impossible to accurately head-count events so large & numerous, but ... I can't be pissed at the Right for inflated B.S. propaganda-ish numbers and lack of methodological "show your work" but then give my own side a pass on it. :| Pretty big crowd in Mobile AL tho!

And never was an allegory so ... allegorical.

It's also more evidence (as though we needed any) that the population of Reddit includes quite a few people who can reasonably be categorized as "ignorant blowhards who get off on posing as Intellectual Experts about literally everything"
I like the makeup swatch subs, tho.

I simultaneously love and hate this for 1) the inclusion of one of humanity's greatest creations and by that I DEF mean Wavy Inflate-O-Noodle Guy, not the cubist trash can on wheels, and 2) its accuracy.

Chuck, you've done some good stuff over the years but it is time -- and I say this gently and with heartfelt sincerity -- to GET THE HELL OUT.

You know you've been watching too many* Kevin J Thornton / JavaDoodles videos on YT when you see this and immediately sing "because it was the niiinnnnee-tieeessss"

I'm having a really hard time imagining a MAGA Facebooker even having the phrase "Platonic ideal" in their personal lexicon. (Tho misconstruing its meaning is, yes, entirely on brand.) Guess that makes me an evil elitist!
Would love to see what they do with the allegory of the cave.

SO behind on tv I hadn't even heard of this show, despite my love of British game/panel shows! That's disappointing to hear, tho -- first time I saw Claudia I expected to loathe her, but she grew on me fast. Maybe she's just a bad fit for that format? Love her weirdo exuberance on WILTY et al.

The absolute absurdity of tolerating -- much less praising -- any of this is just ...
This entire administration is just The Four Seasons Total Landscaping Debacle writ large. Baseless grievance and boundless ineptitude. Over and over. Forever.

Absolutely WILD that anybody would voluntarily sleep with either of them. Would honestly rather sit in a dumptruck full of fleas with ice cubes in my armpits and eat a bag of razor blades.

IDK I think they want him to come back because they believe he'll pwn the libs?
(Whether he comes back or not, I calculate a 99.999% chance that they'll be tremendously shocked and disappointed.)

Oh gosh, think their tour was summer 1990? Bf/the band itself was from the New Haven CT area, but sadly they went their separate ways off to college afterward. Boy does he have stories from that road trip tho... I'll ask if he's heard of Soda Can!

I bet they're gonna be a new fave for me too! Just sent to the bf, who isn't into TMBG but is very much into GBV and old-skool punk (he fronted a punk band in high school and right after -- they did an east coast tour and everything. RIP Beef Trust.)

Ooooo, OOOOOOO! The midway point between TMBG and The Chats, maybe with a dash of Guided By Voices. <3

Yep. MASSIVE undertaking. Like, "get the Army COE involved" massive. Maybe we could set up a giant digital display & A/V instead, have a few dozen vols on-site at a time / rotating shifts to run/guard it, manage signups to broadcast on it? I've got at least 24hrs worth of YT vids I could recommend.

I was thinking about this the other day, too. I'd love to! But I'm in south Alabama. The bf has a kid in high school. Will my tent on the capitol lawn have power? Can I run an extension cord and bring my computer and monitor and keyboard and mouse so I can do my actual job? Bc I can't not do my job.

Oh man, hugs to you both. BF's dad (appx 80) had a cold last month, which turned into a mild case of pneumonia. This past week he had flu. We've all had our shots, but it can STILL get scary!

Went to the movies with mom, stepdad, and stepbro when I was 6-7. We saw Love At First Bite, which ended first, so we went to find parents and caught the last 15 minutes or so of their movie, which unfort was Alien. Y'all, I was SCARRED.
(It's one of my faves now, tho.)
