I didn't want to tag him here for similar reasons. I've had the chance to meet a few celebrities at cons or 'in the wild' and... I find it awkward and feel like it is better to show my appreciation for their work in other ways. It's probably just how I am.

With my wife and sister-in-law when I spotted George Takei in the lobby of the Great Comet on Broadway. His seats and our seats used the same entrance, so we followed him in. Wanted to say hi but wasn't sure it was him at first and didn't want to interrupt his night.

How about a bill that requires one bill per procedure and lists everyone who is getting paid and how much, up front? And also requires the bill sent in a timely fashion. How are we supposed to know each bill is legitimate when everyone involved bill separately, sometimes months after the fact?

Saw a post on Facebook today about people at the (formerly) Lincoln Pediatrics potentially being overcharged. We also recently had my child's tonsils out and got bills for weeks from disparate people.

There has to be some good ones for the Supreme Court too, but I'm blanking the right now.

* An amendment for impeachment of the president: ignoring a lawful order of the judicial branch or a finding of contempt by the judicial branch against the executive branch is automatic grounds for impeachment and may be tried in the Senate.

The last few times I've been through Green I wouldn't have said getting through the security lane took long, compared to the nightmare at other airports. Unnecessary and privacy-invasive, but not long.

On the other hand, it's hard to take what the senators sponsoring the bill to get rid of the TSA say at face value. I also don't really trust the motives behind this TSA privatization program.

I'm really of two minds about this. I'm all for getting rid of the TSA. At this point, I really don't want a federal agency having a facial recognition database. Also, a lot of what the TSA does is security theater. Their failure rate for detecting weapons is laughable.

I suppose they think that their food supply wouldn't be affected. Otherwise, it makes absolutely no sense. You'd think even basic self-preservation would make a difference.

RFK recommending MMR (but not mandating it) is another thing driving me nuts. There's at least one mom out there that seemed to think losing one of her five kids was just the cost of doing business. I can't even.

Seems like they won't be testing cheese either. Or anything for Cyclosporia(sp?). I think we are going to look back fondly on the food recalls of the past few years.

In related news, had a doctor appointment this week where the doctor recommended asking AI about details related to a condition and said the results are pretty good. I replied that I've found it to be wrong often enough in my field that I wouldn't trust it in a field that I knew little about.

You know, the only thing stopping me from hauling a big box of heavy vinyl records to the beach was having to lug my heavy turntable and speakers. Too bad smaller formats for music don't exist. 🤷♂️🙄

Since this whole thread is an exercise in pedantry, I'll allow it. ;-)

Yes, I think so. For some reason, Blue Sky doesn't show the thing you replied to. Was I ranting? 😊

Assuming this wasn't just another grift (big if), Republican senators and business pressure seemed more effective in stopping the tariffs. Convincing Congress to take back tariff power is probably the right way forward.

Most of that seems to fall on the idea that the feds might be able to do something and state governments just don't have to assist them in any way. Hard to see how we could do that with collecting federal tariffs and duties.

Other efforts to fight federal power, like sanctuary cities, are arguably more effective because they play in spaces where federal and state power might be more fluid.

This is purely performative and, while vaguely amusing, not really helpful. We couldn't do this any more than states claiming to want to secede from the Union could do that. We fought a war when the Confederacy tried and the Union won.

In addition, even if that wasn't true, the text in the article mentions colonies specifically which means we could only regulate trade between British possessions not any and all countries.

We also wrote our own state constitution which supercedes the Royal Charter and had to be compatible with the Constitution.

That also means we assigned our rights to regulate commerce to the Federal government under the Commerce Clause when we signed the Constitution.

I don't think this is that smart. For one, Rhode Island signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution which means that we are no longer British subjects and King Charles' charter has no force.

What's really worrying is: what's the contribution policy? Are people adding bodies and parts to that grave? *Shudders*

Considering that was around the first Gilded Age, that feels like something to ponder now.
