I should talk more about my writing or aspirations thereto, but I'm all random on these sites.

You can also authenticate using a DNS record. That's how I do it. My domain doesn't even have a website right now.

I think your site was down earlier; my podcast app couldn't access the feed. Depending on your configuration, this may have messed up Bluesky.
comment in response to post
I must confess I'm a little confused because I haven't heard anyone say Bluesky is dying. I've only heard people talking about people saying that.

Also, the most important thing you can do to avoid paying for costly repairs is to not buy Samsung appliances, since they have a reputation for not honoring their warranties.

Mandates for reduced energy consumption and other environmental concerns have forced rapid redesigns of components that had been essentially unchanged for many decades. I'm not saying we shouldn't make these changes, but they come at a cost--in this case reduced reliability.

What's the point in posting an article none of us can read?

What about Cheesefare? You should have told them cheese is part of your religion.

Not mentioned in this article was on the night of the 1998 Flood Bowl, some local weather stations unofficially reported over 10 inches of rain in 30 minutes. www.arrowheadpride.com/2016/10/4/13...

So you got me curious enough to go look, and in fact it was not an El Niรฑo, nor was it even a particularly rainy year. Ah well, it was a strange time and we didn't even try to settle in because we knew we'd be gone in six months, so it's no surprise my memory is faulty. ๐Ÿ˜…

I lived in Austin for about six months. Summer and fall of 1985. I swear it rained every day I was there. I'm told that's not normal, but it's my memory of Austin.

A skete is a kind of Orthodox Christian monastery. Also, is Bluesky dying? ๐Ÿคจ

I came here to say this.

Addendum (3/2?): I'm taking mainly about music here. Books are a bit different, and in that case the question is sillier.

Today you can just assume that an artist who's not a really big name is being paid pennies at best. For people who want to support the artists they love, questions like this start to have a place. 2/2

I do feel like the economics of streaming cause some legitimate confusion here, though. Back in the day, there was a whole ecosystem built around making sure artists got paid. It was very flawed, but as a general rule it wasn't on the consumer to make sure artists were treated fairly. 1/2

If he'd opposed Trump the whole four years, do you think he would have survived? They would have found a way to force him out. Would he have opposed Trump if it were safe? We may never be sure. But when it mattered most, he did the right thing.

I hope you know Spanish.

What.... I don't have time to sort out the context of this right now. ๐Ÿคช

You jest, but I'm serious when I say this is how the conversation would go: Me: Are you pleased? Fr Stephen: *dramatic pause* ......No
comment in response to post
Can I say Fr Stephen told me to do it? ๐Ÿ˜… (If only he were on social media)

*punches @walterrothbard.bsky.social in the face* Okay, what happens? ๐Ÿ˜†

Like Popeyes, Leo XIV is from the US, is said to have creole roots, and served in Peru before his arrival in Italy.
comment in response to post
True enough. I just find it weird that people are claiming they didn't even try to warn us, when they plainly did.

Popeyes Popeno Popecrisp? ๐Ÿค”

The Popeyes by my house burned down. Not sure what that would mean..... ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

You might actually try reading the NYTimes. Because they were saying this daily throughout the 2016, 2020, and 2024 elections.

Yes, I think if it really came down to it, Kansas would pick California over our immediate neighbors.

I anticipate a three-way split: The western red are the first, the eastern red and blue join up for the second, except Kentucky and North Carolina, which will join the remainder to make the third. New Hampshire might just go it alone.
comment in response to post
Me too, apparently. Only been there once, and have no recollection of this.
comment in response to post
Obviously there are other ways, or we wouldn't be having this conversation.

See, what you're doing here is taking every word she said and assuming the worst possible meaning and motivation. That is also ill-mannered and morally wrong. I see nothing of what you're describing in her words.

It's not mental gymnastics to someone who comes from their religious and cultural background.....

Clarification (3/2?) Maybe in some sense Nancy really was kinda doing this a little bit. But when people have been taught that this is the only acceptable way to suggest that others do something, I think it comes across differently.
comment in response to post
No, there's a completely different line of thinking going on here. It's not about wanting to inconvenience people. It's about being there when someone else actually *needs* to inconvenience someone.
comment in response to post
These people were raised that way or totally bought into it in adulthood, so they genuinely think that's what Nancy is doing. 2/2
comment in response to post
There's been a whole subculture of alternative etiquette building where you're not allowed to directly suggest that others do something different. Instead you're supposed to express it as something you like to do, and if they're receptive they'll ask you about it or imitate you. 1/2

Honestly, I liked your typo better. It sounded like a counterpoint to signs and wonders. ๐Ÿ˜†

I was about to ask if these were Americans, or if they're (im)migratory birds?

I came here to post that.
