I’m surprised she didn’t incorporate scenes from Fallout.

Q1: The president mentioned deaths. How many people have died - or for that matter, been injured - in the LA protests?
Q2: If the gov’t has some “very serious criminals” in custody as a result of their actions in the protests, who are they and what did they do?
Q3: How many buildings were burned?

I’m certain Trump will claim that such deaths dropped in anticipation of his winning the White House.

You must have cut the clip short since I didn’t hear any plug for Tapper’s book.

It will be interesting when the Trump Administration releases injury figures to justify its actions how many of those injured will be journalists injured by police.

There are many locations. In my view it would only take an incident or two at a couple of locations for Trump to create the visual(s) he wants to move things to the next level.

What about this weekend’s “No Kings” protests? They all have fixed locations, often due to permit requirements. How do you avoid troops Trump might chose to deploy at these locations? Other than staying peaceful and not taking the bait, what’s a protestor to do?

Trump DOES understand. He simply always responds in a way which allows him to take credit for all that he perceives is going well, while feigning ignorance for all things that might go sideways.

Has anyone else noticed that you never see those two in the same room???

As I recall from prior reporting, many military bases play Fox News on common area televisions on a continuous basis. If all our military personnel are seeing is the Fox News version of reality, I don’t think we can count on their restraint.

Trump now has yet another Constitutional provision he can violate - the 3rd Amendment’s prohibition against quartering of soldiers without consent.

Right up there with “…do your own research…” and “…govern yourself accordingly…”.

You have to wonder, given the broad scope of last night’s EO, if Trump doesn’t have in mind ordering military troops to locations likely to have sizable #NoKings protests in advance of those gatherings?

Trump is also a master at providing a single camera lens’ view of a protest and then convincing his followers that it represents the condition/fate of an entire city. Half of America believes to this day that Portland, OR burned to the ground. Half are in deadly fear of NYC’s subways.

I guess all those pro bono hours didn’t help him garner the votes of the electorate…
OR, the vote was rigged by people like @gtconway.bsky.social who should be investigated.
Also, were Dominion tabulators involved? (Asking for the MyPillow guy who is busy with his trial right now).

Why is Trump lashing out like this at our country’s law enforcement officers?

Yes, but the more they keep saying so from a podium, the less likely Abrego Garcia’s trial will be fair.

How about “The Goodbye Look” by Donald Fagan?
Or “Brooklyn (Owes the Charmer Under Me)” by Steely Dan?

“I’m always going to be loyal to the president, and I hope that eventually Elon, kind of, comes back into the fold,” Vance told podcaster Theo Von. “Maybe that’s not possible now because he’s gone so nuclear.”
Odd of JD, who once compared Trump to Hitler, to doubt Musk’s ability to return.

My guess is they’ll spin it, claiming El Salvador only released him back to the US because of the criminal charges here. Otherwise they would have kept him. The fact that the criminal investigation started AFTER the deportation is…inconvenient.

But all this does point out what a foolish path we take if we allow the country to be put at the mercy of a mercurial private businessman.

What’s the sanction for missing the deadline - or even failing to ever produce the report? Withhold funding? Trump Administration wants to do that anyway.

I don’t know…I think it’s a bit weak that all Republicans, including good ole’ Clay, quake in their boots at the thought of going in a direction not sanctioned by Donald J. Trump. I think it’s weak that they won’t confront him on his corruption in the same manner they would a Democrat.
