As we travel the rocky path through life, experiencing the good, the bad and the indifferent, aren't we supposed to get wiser?
So someone explain BREXIT, Donald TRUMP and Mother Nature biting us on the arse.
At least I have Pompey to keep me sane PUP

The man's a WUM. Don't engage with him, that'll see him off, no point in being controversial if nobody's engaging with your 💩

😂😂 I don't get the rivalry, seems a very male thing to me. The two clubs used to be friends, that was a while ago though. So as long as you don't mind me not caring about it... we should get along fine 😉

Memories from my childhood - kids in calipers - Polio; people with pock-ravaged faces and bodies - Smallpox; people whose lungs are so seriously congested and diseased - Tuberculosis. All got rid of by vaccinations. People I knew and have never forgotten.

No. I've voted Labour all my life and I expect tax rises as the demands for more and better services increase. I want to live in a country that "feels fair", that includes a fair contribution to the costs of a fair society. Why is there no tax increase to cover the increased cost of security?

I feel sorry for her. It must be so difficult existing in all these alternate realities at the same time.

I wonder if any of these people actually realise how badly deceived they were, or are they continuing in their wilful ignorance.

Make him PM and he'll be begging immigrants to come and fill the vacancies left by the hard working sensible Brits who say NEVER to that grifting chancer as we get in our small boats and head off to Europe.

Can you say a lack of value is still placed on care work when Labour are looking to 'professionalise' the work and see pay increases alongside that? Whilst also running an independent commission on the future of social care?

It's hard after 14 years of the Tories, but you have to trust the government. They have the data, the information (most of which is published somewhere) and will have done the projections on outcomes.
The Home Sec is one of the brightest people in government. This plan will be well thought through.

We have apparently a pool of 40k already here without a job - partly due to 10k arriving to find they had been exploited & no job existed. The rest are down to other reasons, such as their sponsor losing their license to sponsor due to dodgy practices.
So we need to recruit them first.

Excellent thread. As always the devil is in the detail which of course will matter not a jot to those who just want to bash the Government.

In wider moves the government is also addressing pay through Fair Pay Agreements, expanding the Care Workforce Pathway to professionalism the workforce, and is conducting an independent commission on adult social care to fundamentally reform the sector.

Many found the jobs they came for did not even exist.
As a result, we have 40k displaced people who have arrived in the UK on existing visas, but have no job.
These people and anyone else on existing visas can still be employed, change employers and can extend their visa.
