I think that misses the point. This is about them wanting to bring highly educated individuals into tech.

I find Josh Joh son brilliant with a quirky style. It's almost like he just talks about current events, but is somehow really funny.

Agreed. Hannah Ritchie in 'Not the End of the World' addresses the harms of the meat industry in an excellent way. It's just so politically unpopular.

It would be nice to see some of the main points from the article for us nonsubscribers.

I guess the rub is knowing what is happening and engaging for a positive outcome. How does one navigate staying in the know with staying positive?

This is sort of why the US is mired in culture wars. Stop trying to convince people of the self evident and push for the economic and environmental action that's needs to be taken.

Beautiful poem. Reminds me of Nietzche's thoughts on alcohol. Personally I think of consumerism and the pop entertainment industry filling the role of alcohol you've described.

We have to keep older democrats from getting mired in the culture wars. We can't pretend like common human decency is even up for debate.

I guess who do you mean by "they". John Kelly laid it out directly. I've seen it all over. The right calla it "polarizing" to call it out. It is painful to watch it play out so openly. People are behaving predictably in response to immigration, disease, and inflation almost as if from a bad movie.

Definitely had them write raps for a rap battles. It's funny sometimes. Easy to tweak the responses and make them good though. I'm sure a debate would be the same. It would make some good points. I like to engage with it by asking it to debate me and take on positions I disagree with.

Are you asking if autonomous bots are generating memes and putting them into feeds? I don't think that's the case, but it will be. It will probably junk everything up, but the creme will rise to the top.

I signed up following the NPR story. It seems like they are trying to push back against the algorithm model that is pushing us further down our echo chambers.

It's hard to find good information these days. Too much writing lacks the necessary nuance to understand the situation as accurately as possible and news has turned into echo chamber clickbait

I'm really interested in reading this book. I wonder how much of it was predictable due to inflation. People have a strangely irrational but predictable impulse to flip the government during inflation. We have seen it happening globally following covid-19.
