While I prefer making them exist, I don't want to explain how they work to the reader. It helps that the work I am currently writing is a series of diary entries. The character learning it will only explain what they've learned as it becomes important to them.

As a DR fan this game is hard to evaluate. With 11 writers and around 130 hrs of content it's big enough that a lot of sections will feel like DR but a couple won't.
Honestly I'd recommend trying the demo or steering clear. It's going to be that polarizing.
